It doesn't need a bottle... if you have it, it has been weened.

Go to the pet store and ask what the best food is. Be sure to get it the puppy brand though. Try mixing half a can of wet food with half a cup of dry. He should like that. Read food for serving instructions... don't feed him chocolate, raw onions, or potatoe eyes

He might not want to eat because he is teething. Pour a little bit of hot water of dry food and let it soften.

If it doesn't start eating in better in a week or two, take him to the vet. You should be taking him in at 8 weeks for more vacinations so you could ask about eating then.

Don't worry... a lot of people have problems with animals... You'll be a great "mom" for him.

At seven weeks, he's old enough to eat solid food and doesn't need to be bottle fed. Offer him a good quality puppy food 3 times a day. He is a little young to be away from mom - 8 weeks is better.

He may be adjusting to his new home. If he doesn't start eating in a few days, he will need to see the vet.

As for housebreaking, check into crate training - see the website below. Since you haven't had a dog before, make sure he gets all of his puppy shots and be sure and enroll him in puppy class as soon as he is old enough. Pit bulls especially need puppy class to learn to get along with other dogs nicely and to learn some manners.

And as soon as he is old enough, get him neutered. This is very important to reduce his potential to be aggressive later,he will be healthier and it will prevent causing more unwanted puppies - there are way too many dogs out there that don't have homes.

at 7 weeks the puupy can eat soft puppy food. It shouldnt have been away from its mom until atleast 8 wks but...oh well. Be sure and get large breed puppy food so the dog can grow slow enough for its bones to grow properly. I have 3 of these dogs and they are very time consuming and require a lot from their owners. They are notorious for health problems like allergies (mostly skin). Be sure you are up for this and dont keep the dog because it was a gift if you dont feel ready.

If you can return this dog, please do so. You know nothing about dogs and this is a very aggressive, difficult breed for anyone to handle. This dog will run all over you. I think this was a very bad decision on the part of your boyfriend.

Other than that, no one should have a dog and not even know what to feed it. Has it been seen by a Vet yet? Why didn't the people that sold it to your boyfriend instruct him on the feeding and care for this poor pup?

Regular pups are like having a new baby. You should have some knowledge of what to do..........Trust me, you are going to be very sorry in the future. How are you going to housebreak this dog? Do you have any idea how to do it??

PLEASE for both of you, give the puppy back........

If it's 7 weeks old you can feed it dog food...make sure the box or bag says for puppies. You can soften it by pouring a little water over it. I have a pit bull that I've had since it was 4 weeks old. I gave him the soft canned food up until he was 10 weeks or so then switched to hard food. Puppies also need shots, just like babies, so make sure you take him to visit a veterinarian for his shots. Make sure you keep wormer on hand and ear mite medication....look in the Wal-Mart dog aisle. Also, bathe him in flea shampoo at least once a week. It'll keep fleas down, and a flea collar will help too. I love my pit bull; he has the best personality. Good luck with yours!

no it does not have to be bottle fed... It should be weened from its mother by now, put it on some high quality dry puppy food, or wet puppy food.

Get rid of it, take it to a shelter, because that breed is VERY high maintenance , at best, at worst, a vicious predator. You do not sound like you are prepared to raise that puppy. Is your boyfriend insane?
