Let's just call it a universal that it would have to be proven.

About the only quality that an actual God would need would be the ability to always give another chance. If God were to idiot-proof the universe, or to make the "right" path perfectly obvious (even unavoidable), or give detailed instructions on how to live, we'd all be useless idiots. You only learn by painful mistakes, usually involving injury to others. People should be allowed to scale the heights or plunge to the depths and learn the consequences of each.

But ultimately, when your wheels are completely stuck, God should eventually come around and set you back on the road, and give you the opportunity to reverse the damage. It's not exactly a reset, there would still be some sort of "karmic" balance, otherwise the system would be abused. But the worst thing in the world is despair. Hope must always exist. Of course, if no one is ever lost, that means no one is ever home free. So the adventure would continue for as long as long lasts.

God would not require you to believe, either. Belief in a god can be a wonderful thing, but it can also lead to abuses, as people try to gain an advantage over others in God's eyes. God would not be impressed or shocked by anything humanity could do.

Actually, the attributes of this god are much like the attributes I admire in a person: the ability to help people when they need it, without playing favorites, and the ability to tolerate and accept them as they are.

Well if their is a God and this is his creation. I would expect him to be more of a energy form. Less the talking all knowing person.

This God would send everyone to heaven. The very few people like Stalin or Hitler would suffer for ever. Even some bad people would suffer and then go to heaven.

He would not need worship only for use to try to improve our selfs and help others.

As an atheist, there's really is no reason to speculate? I just do not believe in the existence of any supernatural beings. I prefer to enjoy life, and see where tomorrow takes me.

I'd ONLY "follow" a god if he/it/she was indisputably proven - or at least had some very compelling evidence towards its/hers/his existence.
