Well, first think of it like this:
God is like water, you have 3 stages:
1) steam
2) liquid
3) ice
But no matter what, it's still water. God is 3 persons in one:
1) The Father
2) The Son
3) The Holy Spirit
In the old testament, God, the Father, gave Moses the 10 Commandments after He led the Jews, His chosen people, out of Egypt. Yes, one of the ten commandments is to not worship false idols. But the trinity is not a false idol. It's God in three persons.
As time went on, God, the Father, gave certain people some insight on what was going to happen. He told them that a Savior was going to come and save them from their sins. And He would be the Messiah.
So the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to earth through a virgin birth. He is still God, but God in human form. He turned to us, so He could live like us, but live the perfect life, so His blood would be pure enough to pay the price for our sins. Without Him, we would not pass judgement, and we'd go to hell.
After He died, then resurrected, then ascended into Heaven, a short while later, the Holy Spirit came. And this part of God is the one that is w/ us today. He is a spirit, so we cannot see Him. But He guides us throughout our lives, helping His sheep come closer to Him.
I hope this helped.
God bless.
Btw, Jewish people accept the first 5 books of the Bible, correct? Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
In Genesis 1:26 it says:
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
Who else would God have been talking to if no one else was there? One God, three persons. The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Remember that. It is hard, sometimes for me too. But you get me, right?

God is the same forever and always. He was always one, and always the Trinity. . . like a single diamond with three faces, or a lamp and the light that shines from it. There are some Jews (and always have been some), who accept the Trinitarian concept of God, and then there are some who don't. Christianity has always claimed to be nothing more nor less than the fulfillment and completion of Judaism. That is why we read the same Scriptures, why we worship the same God, and why of all peoples on earth the Jews are our closest brothers.

Christians do not worship a trinity. Jesus was created the almighty has always been here, these are the scriptures to prove it.
(Colossians 1:15-17) . . .5 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,
(Revelation 3:14) 14 “And to the angel of the congregation in La·o·di·ce´a write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God,
(Acts 7:55) 55Â But he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand,
(Revelation 1:1) 1 A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John,
(Revelation 7:10) 10Â And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.” the trinity. It is a false doctrine.

The parable of New Wine in Old Wine skins tells us not to practice the teachings of Jesus Christ with the ideas of the Old Covenant or Testament. Also Jesus says in Luke 16:16 that the era of the Law (Books of Moses and the Psalms) and the Prophets ended with John the Baptist and replaced with good news of the gospel.
The Jews are faultlessly obedient in their observance of the Ten Commandments and the Regulations. On the other hand. Christians regard themselves to be a step ahead of GOD and His words.

This is why you should read the Qu'ran. We as Muslims believe in the same God as the Jewish people, we accept all the Prophets including (Moses, Jesus and Muhammad) Peace be upon them all.
The Christians have the trinity, but we only accept the "Father" part of it. This is the only deity we pray to.
Peace Be With You
There is no god but God and Muhammad is his messenger
(thats what you have to believe to be a Muslim)

Here's my take on the situation. The Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) are different aspects of God. Given that, there is only one Deity to which Christians pray.
As far as the "true religion" goes, each religion believes it's the true one.

Jews do not believe that Jesus is the savior. we are also under a new covenant. The new covenant is spoken about first in the book of Jeremiah. The old covenant that God had established with His people required obedience to the Old Testament Mosaic law. Because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the law required that people performed rituals and sacrifices in order to please God and remain in His grace. The prophet Jeremiah predicted that there would be a time when God would make a new covenant with the nation of Israel.
"'The day will come,' says the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah....But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,' says the Lord. 'I will put my law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people" (Jeremiah 31:31,33). Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law of Moses (Matthew 5:17) and create a new covenant between God and His people. The old covenant was written in stone, but the new covenant is written on our hearts, made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His own blood to atone for the sins of the world. Luke 22:20 says, "After supper, [Jesus] took another cup of wine and said, 'This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you – an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.'"Now that we are under the new covenant, we are not bound by the law. We are now given the opportunity to receive salvation as a free gift, not as a reward for any of our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Through the life-giving Holy Spirit who lives in all believers (Romans 8:9-11), we can now share in the inheritance of Christ and enjoy a permanent, unbroken relationship with God. Hebrews 9:15 declares, “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance – now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”

Although it is tough for us to comprehend, the "trinity" is one God. Take a look at the following verse spoken by Jesus:
"I and my Father are one." John 10 30
And another example :
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." 1 John 5:7
"Jesus is sometimes referred to as 'The Word'"

It's the same God! One is a more "up to date" version. Sort of like "Windows 95" is the the God in the Old Testiment and "Window 2000" is the God in the New Testiment.
