Hi...just want you to know there is a way....a friend of mine wanted a Yorkie. She went to a breeder and they sold one to her for $50 because...it was defected to a BUYER....She was not perfect....so the york was no good. Mu friend has had her for over 1 year now.....they named her Lucy. They love her and she loves them.....and you know what....she is perfect.
These buyers look for stuff us normal people don't see.
But because they are in the business...they see flaws...where we see cute...cute...cute....so go to a breeder.
Ask for them to hold them...other wise they kill.um.

The price of dogs is very high.
But to get your mother a 'Cheap" dog is to guarantee your mom a dog that comes from a puppy mill and will end up forking out more in vet's bills than you can imagine. These pups are bred for money making and are usually not as "solid" as those raised in loving homes or clean kennels by responsible breeders.
Your best bet is to call or contact your local branch of the American Kennel Association. They will put you in touch with local breeders.
My brother breeds fabulous poodles that he sells for a very pretty penny. Once in awhile he will have one puppy left from a litter and it might be with him too long to sell as a cute new puppy. Or perhaps it had some minor physical problem. The few times this happened it was nothing more serious than a twisted paw at birth and was easily mended. (The cutest teeeeeeny little casts!)
In the latter case, he has the puppy healed completely and then will sell it at a cut-rate price so long as he knows it is going to the "right' home. His normal pups go for up to $2000 but these ones are usually in $600 to $700 range. Many breeders do this. Make sure, though, that you know what you are getting. Good breeders really care about their puppies and their reputations as breeders. I am sorry but I have no idea of the cost of pugs.
Another option is, some breeders will retire their breeding females at about 6 or 7 years of age if not earlier. Because they are responsible, these beeotches should be in excellent health. They just need a good home! They will also be sold at a lower price.
Also if you contact your local animal shelter, you might luck out and find what you want. Or, you might find a pair of big brown eyes that your Mom cannot resist. This is more affordable. Remember, many dogs are given up through no fault of their own. Often the owner moves or dies or... well there are many reasons. These innocent animals are victims and deserve another chance!
Just a thought.
I hope this helps. You are a good child to care so much for your mother's happiness.

Bad bad bad. You don't want cheap dogs, unless they are from a shelter. Anyone selling cheap puppies means they are cheaply bred. As for websites.... unless you're looking into a pug rescue you shouldn't be looking online to get a puppy. Either find a reputable breeder or breed rescue through Pug Club of America

Pugs are purebred, which mean that they
a) are expensive but come from a good breeder and will have good health and be able to be registered. There cost $$$
b) Puppy milled. A poor quality puppy usualyl with health problems grown up in an unhealthy envoronment. Usually inbred. These are cheaper
You get what you pay for.
If you can't afford a pug that is from a reputable breeder, then go to an animal shelter and find a dog that is in need of a good home. You will get a sweet pet that knows you saved its life for barely any money

Muttley and Bozema....thanks for your responsible answers.
Honey, if you're not going to be absolutely SURE that this puppy is going to be loved and cared for properly, please consider something else for a "cheap prize". I work in a "no kill" animal shelter in Dallas and there are way too many good dogs there that were probably "cheap prizes" that grew up and weren't wanted anymore. Or,they turned out to be unwanted because they were too much trouble to train or care for. I am truly not trying to be a witch, but please go online or to yor local shelter and take a look at some of the animals that are scheduled to be euthanized and think hard about it.
If you still want a dog for yor mom, I beg you to consider adoption of one that needs a home. You might have a Pug Rescue group near you. I love springer spaniels and I adopted mine from a springer rescue group in Texas. He is my baby!
-with love and light, Lisa

Cheap dog means that the parents have not had proper health and genetic screening and the mother and puppies have not had proper veterinary care. Cheap dogs often have not had their puppy vaccinations which means they often catch diseases like parvo which often kills them unless they have very expensive vet care (and sometimes die anyway with proper vet care). Cheap dogs often come from puppy mills where parents and puppies are kepy in cruel and inhumane conditions. The latest thing is to breed toy dogs in Mexico and import them before they are old enough to be away from their mothers and sell them cheap. These dogs often get sick and die.
Pugs are susceptible to many genetic defects, particularly respiratory condtions. That means that they shoud be bred from healthy parents known to be free of these defects.
Good breeders will guarantee a puppy's health. You won't get such a guarantee from a cheap breeder.
There is a reason that responsible breeders charge high prices. Raising healthy puppies is never cheap.
Keeping dogs happy and healthy over the long run isn't cheap either.

yeah the whole spelling thing :*(
the best idea for an inexpensive dog is a shelter or rescue and if you are patient you can often find a purebred many people give up dogs for a variety of reasons and there are so many good dogs who have had bad luck with their owners
look on a search engine for a pug rescue in your area there are many purebred rescues out there just have to look
good luck

Anyone who breeds QUALITY dogs and take proper care of the pups, Mom and anything that comes up NEEDS to charge a price worthy for doing all the work (physically and mentally) that is involved. You'd be amazed at the prices a breeder pays for CERF tests, OFA (hips, heart, patellas, thyroid, etc). Just to be sure the parents are worthy of reproducing healthy pets for folks just like you. A good breeder backs you up 24/7 if you ever need to talk to them about your dog. That's for his entire life, not just the week after you get him. They will give you a written health guarantee... vaccs, dewormings... AKC (NOT any of those puppy-mill registry, APRI, CKC, etc) registration papers.Breeders/buyers often become friends through the puppy purchase. Because they care.
Bottom line is you get what you pay for.

Local Dog Shelters and Rescues have pure bred pups from $75 to $150.
They are usually fully vetted and often already altered (though it depends on the rescue).
Save a life....adopt from a shelter or rescue!
Go to: www.petfinder.com to find one near you.
Good Luck!

Look around animal shelters in your area. You should be able to find one. They are pretty cheap and need homes. Instead of driving all around, search the internet first, find a shelter's site and send an email asking them. If you can't find a pug, maybe you will find a different puppy!
