Hello,
I have a 2000 Jetta GLS. The driver side power window no longer works. When I push the button, all I hear is a "click". Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Jetta, except when mine broke the window was down and I couldnt get it back up. The local VW dealership did fix it for free because of the recall. Call them up and let them know what happened, they shouldnt give you too much of a problem. Good luck!

VW used a cable to move the window up and down on that car. It works great, but was does not is the plastic elbow they used to guide the cable. This is a very common problem. Any VW shop can fix it with out trouble.

And the sound comes from the door or under the dash? I am thinking under the dash and in the fuse box. A relay is not working correctly and needs to be replaced. Take it to the shop though as purchase of any electrical parts for any car "is yours once you are out the door"

There are many possibilities. It could be that your window has come off of the track and is jammed. It could be your switch is bad, or your relay is bad, or even the motor is bad. You would have to take the door panel off, and begin to troubleshoot. Always start with the cheapest first, like make sure the window is on track.

Best of Luck!

Could be the window regulator. They were recalled in almost every year car. Did you check the power window fuses?
