Yes. But in the Old Testament God could not relate to the bulk of the Israelite people well enough. Individuals like Moses, Joshua, David and the true prophets (there were many false prophets telling the people what they wanted to hear) did have very close relationships with God and he dealt with them as friends. The mass of the people had tendencies towards idolatry, and towards violence, and picking on the weak. So the Old Testament Law was a very harsh thing. If it hadn't, they would have forgotten God, and the messiah would not have been received at all; there would be no scriptures with prophecies about Him, Baal worshippers, for instance, might have destroyed all texts relating to Yahweh in a fit of zealous frenzy.

In the New Testament all believers in Christ can actually experience a close relationship with God, so God seems to take on a different character; he is now talking to people who can be transformed through being born-again, renewing their minds, and being strengthened and guided through the Holy Spirit, who is God with us. Jesus' death on the cross makes payment for our sins, new birth and eternal life possible, since as a perfect sacrifice its all paid; justice is completely satisfied.

Jesus sought to liberalise Judaism and expose it's hypocrisy. His coming was foretold in the Old Testament. The Bible makes it clear from the start that there is only one God. His name which is stated in the OT translates as Jehovah. The general term God was put in to use because historically people were too much in awe to use His real name in case they used it in blasphemy. The Gospels are not the only writings to refer to the crucifixion. One noteworthy reference is that of Suetonius in his roman sponsored histories. He mentions ' The crucifixion of a man Christus, if he was a man '. A recent book by a very respected scholar contains the opinion that the resurrection was fact, because the original record shows a surprise and awe not in the authors usual style.

Jesus died on the cross and rose in 3 days and went to Heaven and is seated on the right hand side of the Father. The Father, is the God of the Old Testament. Yes, God of the Old Testament is still here. Does that frighten you? We are to fear God, but that means to have a deep respect for Him. Jesus, is our bridge to the Father. When you trust in Christ, then God the Father accepts you the same way He does Jesus. If you do not have Christ then you are facing the God of the Old Testament on your own.

Cross is it what Jesus died on?
Gal. 3:13 KJV Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. For it is written cursed is every man hangeth upon a tree.
Acts 5:30 The god of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
this made me wonder was Jesus really hung on a stake or a cross.
From what I have found out that was from a pagan religon that dated way before Jesus time.

God must be schitzo, because the OT God has an entirely different personality from the NT God. I guess the "tough love" God just wasn't doing it for the hippies like Jesus and the boyz.

Jesus Christ is God, He has no begining and no end. He is the God of the universe and its galaxies.
Jesus died on the cross and was buried. On the third day resurrected from the dead. He is right now on the right hand of the Father. Christians are waiting for His second coming to judge both the living and the dead.

Jesus Christ died on a torture stake, a pole. Jehovah God is the only true God and the God and Father of Jesus Christ.
