Umm....My cat Sophi sleeps more than other cats. She doesn't sleep lightly or anything and if you were to walk up while she was sleeping, she would jump. Most cats don't do that....they usually know you're there.(or so my mom says....) If she's asleep, no matter where, she'll start twitching and then she'll jump. My mom says it looks and seems like nightmares........She recently had a really bad one and she jumped off the couch, hit an end table, then hit the coffee table. she went a total of around three feet away from the couch. Her face or body will start twitching. It starts out small, then she totally flips out. Is she having nightmares? I called the vet and they said it might be seizures. What's going on with my cat?

She lived in a house w/ 9 dogs and was the youngest next to the runt, but he died, so she was the runt, i guess. We got her at 4 weeks to save her. We fed her through an eyedropper and kept her warm. She's pretty healthy.

Sophi is probably having nightmares. My kittie, Willie, has them and her legs start to run. Sophi is probably remembering her life with scary dogs and dreaming about them, and as you know, cats run while a dog is in their presence. If she jumps at your presence and wakes up, she is just about to wake from her dream, but at a sound mixed with the dream's terror, she would jump in fear as if the nightmare had came to life. When she hit the tables, that is very scary. She was having a Fear Dream. Sophi has what you call a pathological fear of noises and dogs. A pathological fear of something is a fear that is so great that you are unable to control it no matter what you do. You should get Sophi to the vet again and find a pathological ease medicine. I'll help for certain. I hope that your kittie will get better soon! Good Luck!!!!!!

Everyone thinks I'm crazy for saying it, but yes, our cat has nightmares. He's almost 9 years old and for the past couple of years, he sometimes wakes up yowling and runs to me. I've never heard of another cat doing this. (None that I've ever had before did it.)

I think you should go to the vet. Cats can have epilepsy. If your cat has epilepsy the seizure can look like it is having a nightmare. This really isn't a big problem once the cat is on medication.

Good luck
Eric.

i would say it is seizures because i had a cat in 2002 his name was ozzy he was diagnosed by the vet that he had seizures, but he also had a tumor behind his eyes which they said was causing the seizures, they put him on fenabarbatol which worked for a little while, but as he got older the seizures got worse,so i had to have him put to sleep he was only 3 years old.take your kitty to the vets, you owe him/her that much.
