Okay, so I have two questions. I am seriously thinking about doing hijab. I have already told my Mom, but she said that I should wait until I'm not in this town anymore (we live in a place where the people would give us stares for it). First Question:

-How can I convince my Mom to let me do hijab? How can I get her to understand?

Also, I don't know exactly what kind of shirts I should wear for hijab. In some places, I've heard that you can wear regular shirts, and in others, I've heard you should wear tunic types of shirts. Ones that cover your bum. Second question:

-Should I wear longer shirts, or is the regular length fine?

Thankyou.

alhamdullilah! that is great. tell your mom that wearing hijab is your choice and if people will stare at you, it is ok. My mom always told me "hijab isn't just covering your hair, but your body, and your heart, making sure it is clean" I live in america and stared hijab when i was only 12. it was totally my choice and allhamdulliah it all went fine. everyone was nice to me and nobody gave me mean comments. thanks to allah. some may be mean about it but, ignore it. yeah, you can wear normal clothes, like i said "cover your body" so don't wear skin tight shirts and skin tight pants. i wear normal shirts with a long sleeve shirt under it and long pants. many muslims dress this way. well, if you are thinking about it, make sure you won't go back on your word. tell your mom that it is what you want and that allah is with you.

may allah be with you! =)

Remember that you should not obey the creation where there is disobedience to the Creator.
Whether she understands or not, you have to obey Allah.
This is also the case if a husband asks his wife to do something haraam. She has to obey Allah, not the husband.

And Allah knows best!.

It is better if you wear long, loose shirts and do not show the shape of your body. I wear long dresses, almost till my calf and I wear cloaks and abaayas that reach till my ankles. Also, remember to cover your hair properly, not just with a sheer piece of fabric.

I hope it becomes easy for you to wear the hijab.

Al Hamdilla u have decided so..
I can totally relate because I am in the same position but the thing is my mom is against it..
Anyway I think that you should tell her that you will get a bigger Ajr..since you are doing Jihad... the harder it gets and the stronger your faith is the bigger the reward Habibti..may Allah keep you strong..
Secondly about clothes you should wear whatever conceals your body...nothing tight or see through..
you can wear normal length shirts but the pants should not be tight on you..but it's just easier to wear longer skirts
tunics are fine..
you can wear whatever style as long as it conceals the body..
you can wear normal t-shirts with jackets on them ?
there are a lot of varieties..
you go for a Saudi Abaya which comes in very very nice designs..( but you should get it from Saudi though )
search online on Yahoo you will find many nice things and ideas
Good luck! May God help us all

First for convincing your mother, so i think you should talk to her with respect that you like it and she should allow you to wear it......and i think there is nothing wrong with it if your wear hijab........it gives you modesty !! and when you love it, your mom should give you this favour !afterall you not doing anything wrong !

For dressing up, so you should wear a dress which should hide your body in a way that your physique should not be guessed ! it should not to be too tight to show your physical structure.....so whatever way you manage it, its okay.....no restriction for any specific clotting for that....And yes hijab and veil stands different meanings.......veil is covering the face while hijab means covering the hairs...and leaving the face.... Hijab is religious while veil is social !!

May peace be with you and All the best !

Check out the website below for some answers, of course recognize that they are in the business of selling Hijab wear.

You probably should consider the repercussions to your family. It is all well and good to follow your beliefs, but if it hurts your family in anyway, you must consider whether it is worth it. If your Mum is worried, it is probably for good reason, and you should honor her.

If not then Hijab to your hearts content.

There are some people around here that wear it with regular clothes. Their mothers wear tunics. Good luck with mom though.
