I guess that Chinese curse showed it's self true even in the Bible... "May you live in interesting times".. I can't think of a time of peace tranquility and happiness ever making much a splash in the history books. It always the wars, the pestilence and famine that gets the lion share of print. So God agrees we can learn more from bad times than from good. Thanks for pointing that out... Jim

Happy Days aren't real life....
And it wasn't a bet. Satan came and accused God of making things so easy for Job that he'd praise God all the time. God agreed to with draw His hand but Job still praised God...I know my Redeemer lives.
There are many stories about enjoying life. Esther became a queen! Hannah had a son. (Samuel the prophet). Isaiah saw the Lord. Niviah was saved after Jonah preached to them. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo all got to see Jesus in the firey furnace and they weren't even burned....only the ropes that bound them.
Satan always trys to interfere with God's people when they are being blessed but we learn to trust God....Job was blessed with twice what he lost and he had a greater understanding of God.

I guess that perhaps when most people are happy, they don't think they need God, and God's word is to encourage those who are in need. We can learn alot from the lessons in the Bible.
But, check out the Book of Ruth. Lovely, happy ending. And how about Song of Solomon? That is the most beautiful love story.

Happy Days was a tv show. Fairy tales have happy endings. Apart from that you need to take the Bible to heart, in real life, I mean.

Hey friend. you forgot that God restored Job and gave him twice as much as he had before. How about David dancing in triumph? What about the angels rejoicing over ONE sinner that repenteth?what about the man that went on his way rejoicing after Phillip baptized him? What about Paul and Silas in the jail singing praises to god, and the jailer being saved? What about naaman the leper being healed of his leprosy because he (reluctantly) obeyed God? Do you want more? How about 3,000 people getting saved after Pentecost?

Every human being is subject to times of trial. I think it is what keeps us real, if everything was a bed or roses we would not turn to God and give Him the Glory and Praise He deserves every moment.
