I've started to get a really heavy period and I went to the doctor to get some birth conrol pills but she said to wait for another two months to see if it was just something irregular, but I don't want to have to wait for two months- do you think it would be ok if i got it now instead of waiting? and what are your opinions about which pill has the shortest, lightest period? i've heard about loestrin 24 and I've been thinking about getting that one, but I don't know...

btw- my mother also had a very heavy period and got birth control for it at my age...

You should Waite, your Dr can help you find the one that will work best for your body by figuring out if your test comes back with any abnormalities. I am sure it is just because you are just starting, try taking pamprin even if you don't get cramps it will help thin the flow and make it easier. Be patient. Good Luck!

If the doctor says wait, wait. She knows best. How old are you? Irregular periods are very common in the first couple years after you get your first period. Birth control pills have a lot of potential risks---many people think of them as harmless, magic pills that make everything better. They're not. If you take them for too long they can mess up your chances of ever having kids. They can also raise your blood pressure. Wait the two months like the doctor said. Then if she thinks you should go on the pill she can help you decide on one that will give you the results you want.

I would wait for the doctor's results. You can't get birth control without a prescription anyway. Just be patient. If there's something wrong you want to know about it right?
