Sho Nuf...everytime I see a question from you I know I'm going to laugh, LOL. But, I will assume that you are asking with as serious a face as you can muster, so I will write with all the sincerity I can gather up. ;)
The begets in the Bible is really quite dry, and it does make you want to snore. However the purpose of the 'begetting' is to show lineage to King David, or "the House of David". The prophecies of Isaiah are explicit about the Savior coming from the House of David. So as dry and boring as it is to you and I, it is a historical record that can be found in all secular history of the very people mentioned--again to show 'pedigree'/'lineage'.
Hope this helps, and your doing soooo well behaving yourself lately. As much as I disagree with your points of view more than 75% of the time, your hilarious.

I know. It is SO BORING. There's some fascinating stuff in there but then some childless monk gets the begat bug and it's pages of what amounts to results of fornication.

Pretty much. The priests didn't like holes in their genealogies. You had to know where these people came from after all. Oddly, the longest living people seem to have had few-to-no adventures. (Or did it only SEEM like 600 years?)

earth was probably filled with peace. u know everytime theres some kind of peace it instantly skips into the future to talk about some other time of bloodshed and what not.
