I am totally serious in my answer here.....
You have two choices. The choice you make and continue to make as you move on will dictate your life.
1. Go for the guy you like. To hell with what your "popular" friends think.
2. Ignore him and stay popular.
Choose #2 for a life of empty glamour and people kissing your butt because of your popularity status. Maybe you will stay popular and marry some doctor who needs a trophy wife bimbo. Or maybe you'll get pregnant at 17 and marry the guy but then he is a drunk and you are a single mother at 22.
Choose #1 for a life of honesty, self-dignity, self-respect, love, happiness, and having your feet planted on the ground.
#2 may be more fun for a while, but #1 will reward you much more in life.
That doesn't mean THIS guy is the love of your life. It's the behavior pattern I am describing.

Look past the "popularity" issue and go with your heart on this one. Why should it matter what others think? If you really like him, your friends should accept it, and you won't be any less "popular" if you've added a new friend to your circle.

Give him a chance, he sounds like he has a lot of substance to him.
Trust me, after high school, no one is popular. Take a chance and see what he is like.

if u r popular then it really shouldn't matter. i've actually helped a bunch of guys become popular cuz' i dated them. i am the queen bee in my class. :) yeah i know it is awsome :)
