easiest by far, buy frozen filo pastry, cut of a square, egg the top and score a smaller square with a knife apprx 0.5cm from edge. Fill the smaller square with tomato chutney, cook until pastry is browned. Serve with rocket and parmesan shavings. So simple and tasty, but impressive

Deep fried camenbert in breadcrumbs is always a winner, just serve with a dressed green salad garnish and a dollop of sweet sauce!

warm pitta bread, chicken satay sticks, breaded garlic mushrooms or barbeque spare ribs, arrange a combination of things with a few dips like sour cream with chives, hummous, bbq, or sweet chilli to tempt a fussy eater to be more adventurous. nibbling on small amounts of finger foods is nicer than 1 plate of the same thing

Something plain....how about a creamy soup, potato perhaps? Or maybe stuffed mushroom caps - use stuffing and cheese. Or you could serve an antipasto platter of fresh veggies, meats and cheeses, or turn it into a salad and offer that..

Home made pate on toast strips, you could make a few different ones, layer onto the toast fairly generously and then grill before serving.

Have you thought about a simple pasta starter?

Fresh pasta (maybe penne), tomatoes, garlic, basil and olive oil served with fresh crusty bread. Simple to make and very tasty.

Bruschetta - little french bread with garlic rubbed on, topped with hot cherry tomatoes and maybe a little cheese, a little garlic. What could be nicer?
