One could only muster a guess as to who is the richest photographer in San Francisco because photographers don't disclose their salaries for public record. I have worked as a photo assistant in the bay area and based upon the invoices that we would receive on a daily basis the studio which if someone thinks I am writing science fiction starts with an R and ends with Berg (its not tactful to disclose a persons income, especially someone you worked for but I don't like to be called a liar) and has a studio in San Jose pulled in around $300,000 a year. His business was primarily focued on product photography. Of course this wasn't his takehome salary, you have to think about overhead, space rental, assistants, computers, software, etc. This guy was good at what he did, very good. However, I don't want you to get it into your mind that you can make this much. Fact is that most photographers barely irk out a living especially with all the competition in the bay area. Based on people I know, most of your low-brow event or wedding photographers in the bay area probably at best make anywhere from a minimum $20,000-$60,000 a year. Not very much if you consider the living costs which is probably why I moved out of the country.
