I think you need to put something before "theist" otherwise it doesn't make sense.
monotheist: someone who believes in one god
polytheist: someone who believes in multiple gods
atheist: someone who doesn't believe in any kind of higher power
agnostic: someone who believes in some sort of higher power, but it hasn't really been defined (I know that you didn't ask about that, but I thought it would be helpful)

Theist - one who believes in a god or many gods.

Respectably, monotheist is a believer in ONE god, polytheist is a believer in many gods.
