why are they so chewy? and why are they so liked?

The chewiness in commercial marshmallows comes from gelatin, which is made from various animal parts, including but not limited to bones. This does not mean that marshmallows actually contain bones, though.

Originally they didn't have gelatin at all; roots of the marshmallow plant were used instead, and this is obviously where the name comes from.

i dont know why they are so chewy but i know that they are made of some type of animal bones.
