How much physical contact is too much in public areas? Holding hands? Arm around the waist? Hug from behind? Kiss on the ear? My boyfriend is extremely affectionate and loves to hold me...but my parents have taken to calling us "RichandAmy," as in the inseperable couple from the "Zits" cartoons. What's your opinion?

I'd like to add that while in public, we never go farther than the examples I listed.

It really all depends. Do whatever make yourself comfortable.

I usually follow whatever makes two of us comfortable at that very moment. But at the same time, it's important to respect people around you. I do know a lot of people get very uncomfortable when you have PDAs around them. Even though I don't see anything wrong with PDAs. I respect however they feel. Love is a wonderful thing. Your happiness shouldn't make anyone feel uncomfortable.

In your case, if your parents are not all that digging how much you and your guy are into each other all the time. Then maybe you should just refrain yourselves a little bit when they are around. I mean...there are many other things you can do to show your affection without having to physically touch one another. Such as a certain smile or eye contact.

My opinion when it comes to this issue. Enjoy the loving feeling whenever you can and as much as you can. You are fortunate to have someone! :)

My fiance and I are extremely affectionate. I mean, there are limits and some things should be strictly kept in the privacy of your home ;)
We cuddle, hold hands, kiss, even bite in public but we keep it around the face... pretty much the only thing we won't do in public is have sex. If it is in public, it's a quiet area such as a toilet (^^)
When I see other couples in public acting affectionate, I have no problem I think it's cute and adorable that people can display their affections for others.
I'm glad to see that other people have found someone to love as I have because I know how it feels.

Alright...
1. Just like candy, when the PDA begins affecting the way you are looked upon, then that is too much.
I understand that I don't know who you are, but the fact you are asking tells me that you aren't 'freakish'. There is nooo problem with affection. Everyone craves it and loves to give it. When it starts affecting the way those close to you view (and you'll know), then it may be time to pull back some.

and

2. Also like candy, when it becomes the focus of the time spent together.
I don't know who this guy is, but if his display begins interrupting how you two communicate. Or you begin thinking "Dang! All he wants to do is kiss and hold." you may want to pull back some.

This isn't difficult, because you'll know. You'll always know when something is right/wrong or too much/not enough (like candy). The only (and main) problem will be how to get out of that zone once you enter it. That takes boldness.

Either way it goes, I hope it's truely LOVE in that.

Enjoy

I kinda have a PDA problem so i dont like to show alot of affection in public...you have to decide how much your comfortable with but you have to talk to your boyfriend about it cause mine thought i was embarrased by him. I dont want you to have the same problem.

Enjoy the moment while you can. It may decrease later on the road and you will miss it. Just not took much in public.

If you don't get naked and have sex you're in fine shape. Showing affection in public is OK but not to the real old timers and they don't count cause they are going to die and their opinion will die with them.
