Both, of course. But you're not being clear, you know. Religions claim to be sets of statements about objective facts, and those statements obviously have to be either true or false. Different faiths sometimes have very fundamental differences about the nature of the world and the people in it, and so to lump them all together under a vague word like "religion" is foolishness. You can't ask it like that if you expect a real answer. You can ask whether thus and such a specific Christian belief has been a curse or a cure, or whether thus and such a specific Hindu belief has been a curse or a cure, and so on. . . . but you can't broadly generalize as you did in this question. Think carefully about what exactly you really want to know.

Neither. It just is. The problem is that human beings keep trying to force other human beings to live by their religion. If they'd knock it off, we'd all get along much better.

Neither. Prove to me that there's anything out there to have a religion about and then I'll decide.
