It is not a good habit to do this, but if you do, try it with your underwear on.
I know it sucks because even you know your size, different companies and and different styles have you different dimensions though they are marked as the same size. I bought several kind of underwear at the same size but can only use some of them because the others are too big, and I have to throw them away.

why don't you ask yourself if you are willing to buy that underwear if you know somebody tried and didn't buy it because it isn't fit to her? for hygienic purposes underwear is not advisable to try first before you buy it,what if you don't like it?of course you gonna put it back...and what about the other customer didn't know what you did...and she bought it...what if the person who tried it has a virus and happens to transmit it to that other person..would that be fair?of course not?this could be happen to you if the department store will allow everyone to fit underwear...so lets tell everyone don't ever try underwear...and make it sure that..wash it first before using it....beware!

If it's good stuff, there's nothing wrong with trying it on _over your own underpants_.
You don't get to rip open a three-pack of tighty whities, and you don't get to see what it's like right next to your bum. But good ones in dept stores get up there, price-wise, and it's reasonable to want to check the fit.
If the store doesn't want you to, then there's no reason not to return them if there's a problem with the fit.
I'm more weirded out by these people who don't wash their underwear before wearing it than I am by the idea of somebody trying it on in the store...

I think I would ask the clerk at the store what their policy is on that.. some might take exception to your trying on underwear, especially if you are taking off yours to do it. They may tell you to try it on over your underwear..
I know when it comes to bathing suits they have those protective strips in them so they usually don't care about people trying them on.
Hope this helps

Yes, that is gross. Would you like to buy underwear that other people tried on? Gag, and what if someone else tried it on right before you? I just wouldn't do it. Same goes with bathing suits - always wear your underwear when trying them on.

I don't know of many stores that allow you to try on underwear. The best thiing to do is know your size before you go.

i dont see a problem with this as long as you keep your own underwear on underneath, especially if you are buying expensive ones. just make sure you wash it before you wear it once you get home, otherwise that is really gross.

If you are uncertain about your bra size, you can usually get fitted by an expierence sales rep. and try them on.
