First, I am a Mormon, so you can actually read and listen to my answer.
Yes, you are perfectly allowed to convert to being LDS. You can get the book of Mormon from the missionaries. That is an excellent decision on your part. Ignore all the cult answers, don't do it answers, et cetera. Good luck!

You can get a free copy of the Book of Mormon by calling a toll free number which is 1-888-537-7111. You can also get a free copy of the Book of Mormon from this website just answer the question http://www.mormon.org/freeoffers/1,17785,2071-1--794,00.html Yes you are allowed to covert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. When you call or request the Book of Mormon they ask a question if the missionaries can go and visit with you and tell you more about the church. You can ask them questions and they will be able to answer them. If you do join the church they you will be able to have to be baptized in the church. I had a friend with a different religion and matter of fact her mom just joined the church about a year ago. So do not worry what religion you are before or all right now.

Of course, you are allowed to be confirmed in the LDS church. If I were you I would check out Mormonism more, before you make that jump. I've left the LDS church after being a member for 13 years. There are things that you won't learn about until after you've been a member for awhile. It's their whole "milk before meat" thing. Read everything, read pro-LDS stuff and things that were wrote by non-LDS people. The church will tell not to read any thing that isn't by an lds person. That it's anti-Mormon, if it doesn't paint the church in a sun shine and rainbow's light. This simply isn't true, the LDS church doesn't have a spotless history. Just read, read, and read all you can. Especially read the Bible, that's where you will learn how wrong the LDS church is, it's not a Christian church. There are some great on line resoures that are by former LDS people that are Christians.

I come from a seventh generation Mormon family. My entire life was Mormon. I married a return missionary, years later he became a Bishop and held several high callings in the church. I know what the LDS church teaches. I left the church eight years ago because after much prayer and study I knew it wasn't true. Join if you feel it is right, but please know that after you are a member and the newness wears off you will have lots of questions..that is if you are intelligent and know how to think things through. The Mormon church is cult like. The Mormon church does have many strange teachings. Study the very beginning of polygamy and you will find that Joseph Smith married several women that were already married. Go back in church history and study the beginning and if you still feel you are interested in joining then by all means do so. I know some wonderful Mormon people and I know some real evil people that are Mormons..just like any church. The Mormon church taught me many important skills that have been useful all my adult life. I love my family dearly and they are still Mormon. It nearly killed my mother when I left the church but I knew it wasn't true and not for me any longer. I am older now (60) and my life is much more fulfilled and happy. I have never regretted leaving the church. My husband and I divorced after 28 years of marriage and the disagreement over the church was the main reason for the divorce. If you study, and I mean really study and listen to the small still voice inside yourself you will know what you should do. If it is to join the church, do so with joy and celebration. Whatever you chose, may the Lord help you in your decision and be with you always.

Hi Cara,
Yes, you can become a Mormon. I converted from Methodist to Mormon 14 years ago. It was a fantastic choice. For me, it has been the best decision I have ever made.
The best and easiest way to get a Book of Mormon is to either go to the website I'll provide, or call the local church. You should find them in the yellow pages. I"m sure they will be thrilled to send the missionaries over with a Book of Mormon. And they will be able to answer any of your questions too. I'll also include the link of the Book of Mormon (and all the rest of our scriptures) online.

I was a baptized at the age of twelve in a Christian church. After falling away from that church, learning about other religions, and being introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I am now a full-fledged member of the Church. My baptism and confirmation were the last weekend of January. The baptism you had years ago is a lasting promise to God, and to be re-baptized and confirmed in the Church would be like renewing your wedding vows, but with the Restored Priesthood baptizing you with "fire" ("You shall be baptized with water, and with fire and the Holy Spirit.") with the laying on of hands. This will all be explained to you in your lessons before joining the Church to make sure this is the path for you. You can contact a local Missionary through this website. When they contact you, ask them to bring a Book of Mormon with them. God Bless you...

Mormons don't consider any other church valid, nor any of their practices, confirmations etc. They simply do not exist in the minds of the 'Bretheren"
.
Altho you've commented a disregard of any implications that they are a cult, I respectfully disagree. I was in this cult for nearly 50 years, and strongly urge you to review other publications.
They are NOT the One True Church. Not now or ever.
But they do make good neighbors.

Of course you are allowed to convert. Mormons believe they have the authority from God to act in His name (Priesthood). One ordinance done through the Priesthood is baptism. Because they believe it must be done by one having authority from God, they believe it necessary to get baptized in their faith (or under Christs authority). Because they don't believe the Methodist church had the authority, your previous baptism wasn't sufficient. I have studied hundreds of religions and am very content and certain with my beliefs in the Mormon faith. God has witnessed to me of its truth. Joining a religion is a personal decision that only you can make, with the help of God. I do wish you luck. As far as the Book of Mormon, you could always buy one, from any bookstore, or you could go to mormon.org and request missionaries deliver one. Or, I'm sure if you found a church member they would manage to get you one. Take care and enjoy the journey.

Yes you can convert to Mormonism, their church membership is dropping so they are desperate for new members.
Ever heard of the song "Hotel California" by the eagles? This song reminds me so much of their church especially the end "you can check out any time, but you can never leave"
Once you are on their membership list it is very hard to get off of it. Yes it can be done, but it is a long process.
Go to bornagainmormon.com if you are seriously considereing joining the church. Lots of good truthful information here from a former high priest of the church. Do the research yourself - don't just ask questions from members, they sugar coat everything. They won't tell you about their secret temple ceremonies.
I ask that you do not turn your back on the One True Jesus. Ask him for guidance!
This is all said in love

I was born and raised mormon, and I know everything about it. yes it is a cult, you may never see it - but you probably will one day - it might take a few years but you'll see it. The mormon church is not an spiritual experince - - but an emotional experience.
And why are you asking where to find the BoM? I mean if your family and friends are mormon - then they can get one, and can help you.
But I will still pray for God to forgive you and all the mormons, i don't think you guys know any better. I feel sorry for you
--
You told us to research modern mormonism - - we shouldn't have to. The LDS church only teaches history its wants you to learn - and you want to only learn the current mormon doings?
Why did the church ever change its teaching? Its supposed to be the true word right? Why chage it then? Were the prophets wrong?
God's word is the same today as it was in Noah's Day - - read the Bible
God's word should never ever be changed!
