My local grocery story has the two tiered buggy. My son was just turning four. When we went to pick up his birthday cake for his party, I let him sit on the lower tier as a "special treat". Even though I could see him riding it like it was a sled, propelling us along with his hands on the floor, it didn't occur to me to think it might be dangerous. I know -- how foolish!
Anyway, I ran over his thumb with the buggy and split it wide open. Blood was everywhere and all over both of us. Plus we barely made it back from the doctor's office to finish getting the party ready. My son was in pain and couldn't play any of the games.
He still talks about the event, even though now he is 20 years old. "Remember the time, you ran over my thumb and ruined my birthday?" He can't even seem to remember all the other birthdays that were so wonderful. I think he feels he's getting even by tormenting me.

ONce, he had an ear infection and I didn't know it. He seemed pretty happy, just tugging on his ears. Then he got fussier, and fussier. I figured I'd take him to the doctor when we got home because I had a flight the next day. The poor boy screamed his little head off the entire 7 hours we were on the plane. The pressure just hurt him so much. It was heartbreaking to listen to him cry like that....

I have a son. When he was 5 years old, he started peeing on stuff. Well, one day, he came upstairs from his room, and told me that the cat had pooped on the floor. I went down to take a look, and either that cat had just rid itself of some serious constipation, or it was a human turd. I was LIVID. I couldn't even talk. I asked him why he did it, and he said that he didn't know. I was sooo mad that I made him pick it up, with his bare hand, and throw it away. He washed his hands, and sat on the steps for quite some time. Now, I know that I over reacted, but it was sooo friggin gross. I finally cooled down enough to talk to him, and we worked it out. Needless to say, he never did that again.

When my son was 4 I had just woken up from a nap, and I was at my sisters house. I heard my son comming towards the room, I noticed there was some fake blood in a tube from Halloween, so I poured it over my face and laid down on the floor, now I did this because my son has a sense of humor, even at that age he did. He's the kind of kid that would kick me in the head or throw himslef on the floor and pretend to be passed out with me, so I didn't expect this reaction. He came into the room, called out my name once, then ran to my sister. I heard my sister asking him what's wrong, he was so messed up he couldn't even talk, and he started crying and said my mommy's gone. Oh no oh my god I felt so terrible, even now I feel so terrible, I started crying, it was supposed to be a joke, apparently a bad one.

the worst thing that happened to my 18 month old daughter was my fault. she woke in the middle of the night and was just screaming, and i was really tired so i picked her up and brought her to bed with me. about an hour later i was woke up by an awful THUD! my daughter was screaming face down on the floor...she rolled off the bed. poor girl. i felt horrible. so i got up with her and comforted her until she went back to sleep and i put her back in her bed.

ABORT.
Its not the child's fault you made a mistake. The child isnt the mistake, your actions are. Its the worst thing in the world, when you think about it. Very sad...

mean words...I am against hitting a child....but I still believe that you hurt a child with words...when you are tired and frustrated...I wish I never used those words ever but obviously I wasn't mature enough...or I was just weak as a human.
