...for including the parts (i.e. in Revelation) that say when people stop believing in the fairy tale or things in the world get bad, its a sign (prophesy) that the Bible is true and you need to believe even harder?

Sort of an evil genius to it, really, by including self-fulfilling prophesies.
No? just dumb luck?

Yes, and the Devil himself was brought into existance by the Church... thanks, Father. Needed that over my head for a thousand years.

The Bible authors could only write from what they knew at that time. The Book of Revelations is not to be taken literally. It was written in a style of writing common to that day and age. It would be like you saying it is raining cats and dogs. People living today would not take you literally but people a thousand of years from now, who may find your cats and dog story and not understand what you really mean, may think that something quite extraordinary happened in the year 2007. Take courses in how the Bible was put together before you believe it literally.

I like the "do not question" attitude of it all- it reminds me of the Bush Administration! Or how human knowledge is foolish in the eyes of god, or how non-believers are punished even if they never heard of it, or just the fact that there were people all over the world that never heard of it that will be punished and the people who don't believe exactly the way it was written... sounds to "governmental control device for me." Unfortunately, America is a good example of how well it works.

BTW- are you EVER going to allow e-mail? I can't count how many questions and answers you've written that I would have loved to pick your brain about!

Clever enough to forsee disbelievers, but perhaps not so clever since the majority of the religion is taken from Judaism, with other pieces from various regional traditions.

Perhaps they realized that their lack of knowledge of the world would show in time, but the message of faith, and inquisition is sin were other foresights to safeguard their conspiracy.

Mormons do an even better job of it by saying that if you are a true Mormon you will be able to "feel" it and just know. Brilliant thing though, to put the burden of proof on the individual.

lots of clever little hooks and barbs in the bible. They might have been barbaric with respect to their views of homosexuality and women's right but they sure knew their humans.

The 'preach the gospel to others' is particularly insidious which is what makes it somewhat like a virus, with missionaries as the vector.

All the Bible authors were ordinary men chosen by God. living at different times and in different places.None of these writers contradict one another.God guided them, inspired them and annointed them so that they will write what God wanted them to say.So the Bible is the Inerrant,Infallible,Inspired Word of God.

The authors of the Bible were intelligent goddly men who were inspried by God Himself. There is nothing evil about God's word. I dont' live by luck, but by my faith in God. Luck belongs to satan and his cronies. luc, the first three letters of lucifer, and the k stands for he thinks he's king. NOT!
