How many fallen evangelicals have there been since the beginning of the movement and does the behavior of the movement's leadership threaten the integrity of the evangelical community as a whole?

It didn't really affect it much since evangelicals really didn't have much credibility to begin with.

But it did make for some great entertainment - especially since I had seen clips of haggard talking and preaching before the whole gay prostitute and meth thing came to light. He was an azzhole, condescending, self-righteous, and definitely not an example of anything 'christlike'.

Screw him. He got what he deserved.

Honestly? I was embarrassed as HELL by it! It seemed to be so typical of our leadership, that we condemn the stuff that we're secretly doing.

Who's next? I don't know, but I don't put any leader on a pedestal, so when they fall off of the pedestals that others have put them upon, it saddens me, but has no impact on my faith, whatsoever, since my faith is in Jesus, not in Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, the Bakkers, or any other human being.

What effect does a strikeout have on a batter with a .000 average?

The fundamentally retarded christianazis never had any credibility to begin with. Ted Faggard's - oops, Haggard's - exposure is just another in a long line of examples show how sexually repressed and hypocritical the godbots are.

It's a mindset that is the real issue. People who want to believe in fundamentalism will rationalize (funny, huh?) anything like that, spin it to their favor. They can take someone like Ted Haggard and say "See? Satan is powerful. If he could get pastor Ted he can get me. What if I decide (ha!) to be gay? I need more god"

You should be in the evangelical movement because you love God, not because of some pastor. If the actions of one man causes you to lose faith, then you didn't have much faith to begin with.

As long as the blessed are duped with stuff like "Homosexuality can be cured by three weeks of therapy", I don't think it will have any impact at all.

I didn't give it any credibility before. But it sure has been great comedy material for us atheists.

Ted who?

His "scandal" is yesterday's news. Move on to the scandal of the day.

Since when have "facts" ever had anything to do with religion? What makes you think this will change now?
