Sounds pretty normal to me. I have a friend with fraternal twins and they didn't realize they each had a name until they were about three. When you asked their name they would say
"I'm TylerBrandon" as though they were one person. They get it now that they are older. LOL

Kids that age to around 7 years old start role playing and pretending. They might start thinking they are tigers and prowl around the room, or they will be vultures flying off of chairs and pretending to fly. Don't judge them on it, and play along, don't spoil their fun!

They are 3, they are not lying, they are making a joke. My 3 year old pretends she is a horse, tiger, etc, I would never say she is lying, I would call that pretending. Perhaps your children are pretending too?
