I don't know what happened this morning according to the news, several from my husbands squadron were KIA and I haven't been called but will I be notified if it wasn't him too? Will they call me or come to my house or what?

You're an as*hole SHEMP. I have no one else to ask and I don't want to call the KV because there's more of a chance that her husband died than mine. F*uck you! I am worried, I've been crying and shaking for more than 5 hours since I heard it could be him.

I know I could call the KV (Key volunteer) which is the wife in charge of the other wives, what you said is the Ombudsman but she sounded really upset and I think she knows that her husband there's a 90% chance he was one of the Marines killed. It would be wrong to ask her and I live nowhere near a military base I called the recruiter that knows both me and my husband, and I know he's no help, but I don't think my husband was on duty when it happened.

Thank you for helping, I guess I will just keep the phone line open until I know anything. I don't have family around me right now, and talking about it isn't a good idea for me.

you will be notified within 24 hours if it was yours. you will not be notified if he wasn't involved.
There will be a communications blackout untill all families have been notified, so unfortunately, it may be a few days before your husband can call you to reassure you.

In the navy we have what is called an Ombudsman. She is the link between the command and the spouses. If you have a person like that you could contact where you would not be bothering the command, that would be a good route. Otherwise you will have to wait until you are notified (usually within 24hrs) or you hear from him directly. Usually when something happens over there they have what is called a "black out" where you are not allowed to use the phones for a period of time until the military says you can. Waiting is one of the worst things that us military wives have to do. I hope that he calls you soon to tell you he's ok.

They will contact you within 24 hours it WILL NOT be a phone call no matter where you are, it will be in person. As for calling your KV they will not know anything until after the spouses has been contacted. So calling your KV will not help you unless it is not your husband and the other wives have been contacted. It is up to the command whether or not an "All Clear" call or email is sent out.

Generally within 48 hours if the body is identifiable. You will get a visit from an Officer and a Chaplain. They will help you with funeral arrangements and other details. If he was wounded and in the hospital recovering you will be notified too. Your nerves have got to be shot and I wish there was something that I could do or say to make you feel better. Unfortunately, you just have to wait. Do you have family and friends you can go to??

You would be contacted VERY quickly. If you want to know soonest, stay home for the first day or so, as regulations would have notification ASAP by a Colonel and a Chaplain.
Normally notification is as fast as a couple hours, and morning there is night here, which means more than that time has already passed. I wouldn't worry too much right off the bat.

I'm guessing you are a Marine wife because of the reference to KV. You should just call her, thats what she is there for. If you really think it may be her husband, call your KVA or someone else on the phone tree. You will usually find out pretty fast if something happened. Also, make sure they have your correct address on file. You can check the address they have on you on your husbands MOL account.

I know you can't help but to worry, but all you can do is wait if you don't want to call your KV. I know in our KV network we will send an all clear email to those not affected. I will pray for you and the families of the squadron.

There are a lot of factors involved in when you will be notified. It will not be by a phone call. You will be visited by the CAC (Casualty Assistance Command) team to notify you. These folks are professionals and I know that would not be a job I'd want to do.
My prayers are with you.

It depends on where you live, how far away from the base or post. If you live on or close to the installation they will come to your house. If you live far away they will call you. Chances are you will not be notified if it was not him, but if you are tired of waiting call his unit and ask.
