Try Hotel Laguna at Laguna Beach. Its about 30minutes from Long Beach. The Hotel is right next to the water, and located in the midst of the city boardwalk. Their standard room is decent and their is a nice restaurant overlooking the ocean for a nice breakfast. Their hotel rate is actually great also. I believe I paid $100 for a weekend.

If you would like to stay close to Long Beach, the Hilton is a fantastic stay. A little bit more pricey but great stay.

I would go to priceline.com, ask for a Long Beach hotel, 4 star and $99, and see what comes up, you can't go wrong if it's 4 star and chances are, once the front desk finds out it's a honeymoon, you will get a free upgrade, maybe a bottle of champagne. Hotels do this often to get you to come back and it's good PR.
Or try the Queen Mary, it's a hotel also, romantic, not very expensive and it's in Long Beach.
Have fun!

If you're the GROOM and looking for the cheapest room for your Wedding night ---well I just don't know what to say, honey THIS JUST ISN'T GOING TO WORK OUT??? Get something close in Long Beach, I suspect you will be having had something to drink..and don't need to be driving distances. (although the jail is about as cheap a place to stay as any in Long Beach.

Tough question for So Cal. You might want to post this under "Local Businesses." Edit: The park idea below is a good one. Where in So Cal do you plan on having the wedding?

Ritz Carlton Laguna, since it's your wedding night spend a little more. Then you can be cheap for the rest of your married life.

I would search online and look for the best deal you can find at a nice place. Your wedding night will only happen once....
