So my husband and I rescued a beautiful white boxer about five weeks ago from the shelter. The shelter said that she had a liter of puppies not long before she was dumped. She is deaf not that it matters and a wonderful dog but she appears pregnant again....we had 60 days to spay her after we got her but I don't want to abort her puppies if they are there .....how long between liters before a dog gets pregnant?

Most dogs come into heat every 6 months (about 4 months after she has a litter of puppies), so she probably is not pregnant unless she was at the shelter for quite a while. You can take her to the vet in about 14 days and have them x-ray her, it will confirm that she is or isn't pregnant.

I would call the shelter and ask them what to do, and tell them that if she is pregnant you do not want to abort the litter.

Dogs have a heat cycle about every 6 months. So about 5-6 months after pups they will be in heat again.
She should not be pregnant at this time but take her to the vet and have them check to make sure.
If she is I would talk to the shelter and explain what is going on and that you do not want to abort the litter. See what they say and want you do to.
Boxers are great dogs and having one that is deaf can be a challange but well worth it. One of my friends has a deaf one and she is one of the best dogs I have ever seen. She is so careful around small kids and just loves people.

Some dogs can have liters after liters. I would take her to the vet. He can tell if she's pregnant or not and can give you all the information that you need. It's probably not such a bad idea for a vet check up any way. Especially if she was in the Pound and depending on how long she was in there for. Dogs can search all sorts of things from other dogs. Especially if some of them was sick. Good Luck

Hi,
Usually about every 6 months. You did not say how long you have had her, gestation is around 63 days. I don't know what your state law is or what was in your adoption contract but you may need to look into that also in making your choice.

I doubt she got preg. at the shelter. Get her spayed now, the shelter should have done that for you.

Take her to your vet. They can palpitate to see if they feel a pregnancy. As well, they can do sonogram to see if she is pregnant.
