My puppy would do the same thing. She just refused to eat dog food. I finally ended up adding a little gravy with bits of whatever I made to her dry food and mixing it all together. That way her food smelled just as good as everyone elses. If that doesnt work for you then you should go to petsmart or petco for some training classes. They really help.

if she was eating mostly people food then she probably had a few pounds to lose. I train our dogs to the OUT command...which is used mostly in the kitchen at home and surgery room at the clinic...when given the OUT command they are to leave the room and not cross the threshold. Dogs are a little like kids in that they will eat what you give them when they get hungry enough...they will not starve with appropiate food available. It is usually more of a problem with the owner than the dog. there are many light dog foods on the market but I generally go with a good quality dry dog food and nothing else. If you feel the need to feed treats from the counter or table make it the dry dog food. if that's all she gets from the table she will either eat it or quit begging. it's going to take time and YOU need to be consistant and in charge of the situation. I would also suggest that you have her checked by the vet to assure yourself that she is not losing too much weight or have any other health issues. exercise her more to give her something else to do and give her more interest in her food.

Do not give her anymore table food. It's not good for her. She will eventually start eating her dog food again when she gets hungry. If you are worried about her weight, take her to the vet. Do not let her in the kitchen when there is food around at all. I had a dog that I fed table food and he acted the same way. My current dogs do not get table food, so they don't know what they are missing. It works better that way.

It's bad for dogs to eat people food. That's why they make dog food. Of course they like people food, it tastes different. But so would dog treats.
If you don't want your dog begging for people food, make it a habit to not let the dog get a hold of any.
The puppy dog eyes are killer, but if you can't resist them, keep some treats in your pocket to give the dog instead of your food.

Don't reward this behavior. Try to ignore it, or place the dog in another room while you are eating. If the dog is not rewarded with food when he begs at the dinner table, over time he will learn this just isn't working for him and he'll have to try a different scam!

Try flavoring her food with beef broth...they love it and eat their food right up!! If you want her to stop begging never ever feel sorry for her and give her food at the table!! Tell her NO every times she begs and ignore her. She will eventually go eat her food. Hope this helps. If she still doesn't eat her food consider talking to a vet if she gets too skinny.

Try a different type of dog food because obviously she doesn't like that type of dog food if she is stealing yours. Get her checked out by her vet and ask for a solution. I hope your poodle feels better!

well our dog use to do that and she doesn't do it any more because we have shown her her own food and repeatedly said to her this is (your dogs name) food over and over again. also if we saw the dog take it and it is still in his/her mouth we take it out and not let them finish it. if that doesn't work then you could also put a little i mean a little bit of salad dressing in wit there food and every day put less and less until they don't even realize that it is not there we did this with our dog and it worked. if not then i would talk to the vet. But i can surly say that it will work. good luck

don't be worried if she doesn't eat her food, she will eat when she gets hungry. adding a bit of cooked chicken to her food should help, too.
In the meantime, you need to keep her out of the kitchen entirely while you are preparing meals & eating. It will keep the tempation of stealing food at bay, & you don't have to deal with the dog begging.
She may not be happy about it, but you are the one in charge! She'll get over it. (c:
good luck!

Just like you've already done, just ignore her. After your done eating, Give her any leftover food you have. Later on she might learn that there's no point in begging if you get food after. If that doesn't work just have her stay in a crate or outside.
