It depends on the size of the bowl. Cats dislike getting wet and if her whiskers do not touch the side of the bowl she may think that her head might get wet. Otherwise she maybe never learned how to drink (which would be kind of weird). I would probably try a different bowl.
Good job on changing the water!
Good luck.

My cat does this too, and he's fine. Don't worry about it. Some cats just like to play with water (as long as it's only with their paws.)

This isn't too uncommon.... I have seen it before. Some cats just like to drink or eat like this. It is funny to watch and some cats really enjoy it.... I don't think it's because she thinks the water is dirty, she just does it for kicks. No need to be concerned. Good luck.

Wow, I have never seen or heard of that, but sound like your cat is unique in doing so. Evry cat has different things that they do. My cat loves Q-tips and gets them out of the holder on the sink and playes with them- no idea why!

I think your kitty just has a quirk. :)
It doesn't sound like anything to worry about.
My kitty pokes at her water a lot, and it is always fresh. She also sits by the heater vent, waiting for it to turn on.
Kitties are interesting. :)
Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)

This is an instinctive trait, tracing back to when cats had to snatch fish from a stream to eat. Most cats do this now and then. Your cat is just a little quirky.

No reason, just her preference. My cat does that too. I think it's cute.
