Siamese cats can make great pets, but they are very very vocal. They are not good pets for an apartment or if you don't want to hear them talking all day long.

Try going to an animal shelter and finding a cat in need of a loving home.

Siamese breeds are great. Somehow they got the attitude of hateful. I have had siamese cats for over 20 years. Not one of them have been hateful. The one that I had for 18 years was nothing but a lap baby. If you are stuck on that particular breed, then make sure you get a kitten. I have adopted ferrel siameses that are not mean, but they don't necessarily want to be lap babies either. You can "mold" a kitten. If you adopt a cat, you have to understand, you don't know what kind of environment they came from. I am a complete advocate of adopting, but if you want one to be loving, you may not always get that from a shelter. Most shelters will let you go in and spend some time with the animal. Only down side to getting a kitten, yes.......it will probably bond better with you later on, but while it is a kitten, it will be "wild" and crazy and want to play, sleep and eat. Don't expect much while it is very young. Older cats, like 9-12 months are a little more settled. Spend some time with the animal. You can tell immediately if they like to be held or not. The two seal point ferrels that I adopted are brother and sister. The little girl is a lap baby. The brother is kinda shy and wants attention, but doesn't really like to be held. It all depends on what you are looking immediately. It usually takes me WEEKS of looking before I can decide. Good Luck!

Siamese cats aren't moody but they are very highly strung and need a lot of attention. They're not really the right kind of cat to get unless you're an experience cat owner and you're in the house most of the day, because they thrive on stimulation.

They want to play a lot and enjoy climbing and getting into mischief.

They're also extremely loud and constaly miaow for the smallest thing. Their mews sound like a high pitched wailing.

Saying that, siamese cats can be very rewarding, but I really wouldn't get one unless you used to dealing with the breed. They're much harder to look after than a normal domestic cat.

If you do get one, consider getting two to keep each other company.

Moody I think every cat is moody.. I have 2 Siamese cats and I would not trade them for the world.. they are very unique once you have a Siamese you just wont like any other cats the same. . Siamese are people cats they love to be around you and even yes, talk to you. their meow is so funny . very high strung you need to have objects earthquake proof or else bye, bye. So in my opinion if you love cats you will LOVE Siamese .

I have a 4 year old siamese cat and she is a bit moody. She especially shows aggression and fear from anyone that isnt living at home. But most of the times shes very calm and loving :)

My Mum's friend breeds Siamese and Tonkinese. Siamese are a little moody but make excellent pets. They love attention and talk a LOT.

I've got two Tonkinese (Siamese x Burmese) and I've got the best of both breeds! In Polly (3 - 4 months old), she is a blue/gray kitten. She is more Burmese than Siamese and she doesn't talk a lot at all. She is very playful (Burmese), furry (Burmese) and she is a little plumper than a Siamese. She has the Siamese ears, Burmese face, Burmese body etc.
Lia is so different from her. She has so much Siamese in her, it's hard to tell whether she really even has Burmese in her! She is very thin (no, not under weight), thanks to the Siamese in her, she has the Siamese face, Siamese ears, Siamese body structure etc. She is very playful (Burmese) but her fur isn't as soft as Polly's (Siamese).

If you're worried about getting a Siamese due to their moodiness, I suggest a Tonkinese.

Siamese are fantastic cats - and like ALL cats they have their own personalities and temperaments. If you don't know anyone with a Siamese go to a reputable breeder who should allow you some time to observe them and maybe interact. I have two - a chocolate point girl and a red point boy and they're extremely affectionate.

Take it from me once you have one you're spoiled for life!

They have strong personalities, definite character and minds of their own. If you upset one, you'll know about it! They're extremely loyal if they decide to accept you as a friend, and you'll rarely get a word in edgeways either.
If you want a sedate, compliant cat, don't go for a siamese, go and see the animal shelters who will have lots of cats needing a loving home.
On the other hand, if you want an opinionated cat who might decide to let you share the house with it, go for it. Great pals.

Siams are very intelligent and sociable (if not full-blooded). I would try and look for a siamese-colored kitten/cat (that way you wouldn't have to pay a registered/full blooded price. The full blooded are the ones that tend to be one personed and anti-social, but i wouldn't worry about it if you don't plan to get a registered cat).Either way, they are very vocal and, since they mature slower mentally than other breeds, they never get tired of playing. They also keep themselves very clean so you (or someone else) is less likely to become allergic. I've had several over the years, and I wouldn't trade them for any other pet.

Siamese are not moody - they are very intelligent (for cats anyway) and have great personalities. They are great pets and due to their unique perfume do not get many fleas.

Great cat to have around. They are vocal when they are hungry!
