I am YES to organ donation! and i love to be a donor someday when my time comes. I believe that becoming an organ or tissue donor can save life to other people and create a brighter tomorrow. It is absolutely an act of charity and love...

n_m_young's position is inflamatory and untrue:
People are asked for first person consent (they decided while they're alive and register or tell their family) or consent from next-of-kin - and they are allowed to specify the limitations of the donation.
He said: I think it should be voluntary - the presumption is that it isn't, but that's a mistake because it IS voluntary - his wording is faulty and deceiving.
There IS a national waiting list where people are treated equally, and ARE ranked by severity.
There is NEVER cosmetic usage of organs, and tissue can only be used for reconstruction or plastic surgery if there is consent for that.
When people agree to organ and/or tissue donation, they are not consenting to 'willing their body to science.' The organ recovery surgeons do not recover arms or legs or brains. If someone donates their body to science, then there is no organ or tissue donation allowed.
nm, you need to investigate a bit more before making inflamatory accusations such as the ones you have made.
You could cause people to be scared of donation, when there isn't a lot to be scared about - what's scary is the 95,000+ list of people waiting for an organ. About 17 of them die each day waiting, and a new person is listed every 13 minutes.

Go for it. I think that it should be voluntary. It saves lives and doesn't hurt any one in the process.
I believe there should be conditions with it which at times are falling by the wayside (actually and ethically).
- there should be a national list where everyone is treated equal
- there should be a ranking system of severity
- there should be an independent group that determines severity
- cosmetic usage of the body should be allowed, only if the organs aren't needed
- the responsible party for the person (wife, mom, etc) should be told if the body is being used for something other then organ donation to another patient and then have them okay it.
Just as a side note, people that say yes to organ donation also say yes to other things. There body parts and sometimes sections of there bodies are used in experimentation and other things that many consider to be outside the realm of medicine.

Actually, an organ doner most of the time is a motorcycle rider who fell off of the motorcycle. You only can donate organs if you are dead, which usually is a BAD thing. That is all I have in my mind about organ donation. Thank you for reading!

I have been an organ donor for years and I am proud of it. It is ridiculous to bury a person whose organs could save several lives. I don't believe for a second that ambulance drivers will let you die for your organs...EMTs and doctors will save everyone they CAN. If you turn out to not be one of those, then let some poor fellow human have your kidneys. You can get them back when you meet them in heaven.

If you can donate organs after you are dead, Then why not save another persons life? You cant do anything with your organs if your dead.

I'm against the illegalization of organ sales. If I want to sell my kidney to the highest bidder, why shouldn't I?

Donate as much as you can when you are alive and donate everything when you are dead.
