Karen,
what I would recommend is first getting an exact date of death. If it has been in the last 40 years or so, you'll likely be able to find him on the Social Security Death index. Here is a link to the online Social Security death index:

After you find him there, you might want to either go to the library and look up his obituary or you can often send a note to the library genealogy department with your request and often a few bucks donation to help the department along (always with a self addressed stamped envelope)

The obituary often has the funeral times and the place of burial in it. You could also contact the cemetery you think he is in and talk to the person that handles the records. They will usually tell you gladly if someone is there and where their grave is located.

Good luck!!

Go to the public library and look up all the funeral parlors in Santa Clara, then call them until you find the one that handled your father. They will know which cemetary he was buried in.

Hey Karen,

First find out where they died, see if you can get a death record. If you cannot, then get an Obit. The Obit should list where the burrial took place. Here are some sites to help you with the lookups.

It will be listed on the bottom of his death certificate. You can call the County Clerk's office and ask them for the information over the phone.
