Thousands of allied forces killed. Many times that with severe wounds that will never heal. All the innocent people killed along with the opposition and now a civil war taking more innocents. Nearly a trillion dollars spent already. No end in sight no matter who takes over as President. WMD's that didn't exist. Loose ties to 9-11 that cannot be confirmed. What was our mission again? Are we spreading freedom somewhere between the bombs and bullets? Are we more secure at home by making an entire region of the world hate us instead of a few isolated bands of outlaw extremists? My tax dollars are doing what while social services are getting cut back? Education, health care, elderly care, fire depts, police all getting funds cut while we ship pallets of cash on military cargo planes to Iraq. I'm having trouble understanding the whole big picture. Someone help me understand what's good about this.

Whether or not we went into Iraq makes no difference on how much or how little other nations like us.

If they feel it is to their advantage - they will be our friends.

If they feel it is to their advantage - the will be our enemies.

Besides - you only think the way you do because your only source of information is the news media. I suggest that you talk to the eyewitnesses (service members who have been there) and learn what the media is not telling you.

If you were not a coward you would join the military and go over there yourself. If you went over there you would see how much we are helping them. They have been in a civil war for over 1000 years. We are not showing them anything they have not seen, except compassion. They throw their kids out in front of moving vehicles to get them to stop so they can rob them. All the good people understand what we are doing over there and support us.

Muslims have hated us for generations already, and will continue to hate us for generations, and what is going on now, will not change it or elevate it. Get it in your heads, they hate us and always will. If you are not muslim, they hate you. If you are a woman walking around showing your face, they hate you. If you are shiite and they are sunni, they hate you. All that we are doing now will not make a bit of difference to how much they hate us. They cant even get along with each other.

Unfortunately, a great many. I would say that for at least a generation, our administration--and all of us, even those who voted against him, because we didn't find a way to protest loudly and often enough to make a difference--has secured our reputation as the Great Satan in the Middle East. There's nothing to do now except damage control.

It seems to me that the Iraqis hate each other more than they hate Americans. At least they're constantly killing each other, even in mosques.

I'd bet that Iraqis have killed a lot more of each other than the troops ever have.
