It's fiction. I think the books are an enjoyable read. Doesn't make them good or evil. By classic standards, the character of Harry Potter would be considered "good."
As for the books promoting witchcraft... *chuckle* They promote butched Latin and reading. Could be worse.

I don't believe "Harry Potter" is evil, or the books, although they do contain "evil". Just because something contains "evil" storylines, does not mean the thing is bad. Without evil you cannot fully understand the good. I therefore think that the books CAN BE valuable tools for good. The fact that the stories are about wizards, and that some peole think any wizardry is evil, is taking it a little far. You would then have to put the bosh on things like Cinderella because of the fairy godmother, or the Little Mermaid because they use magic and sorcery. What we need here are good parents who have dialogue with their children.

Alot of people ask this one and I can honestly say if you read the books carefully, Harry Potter does not promote witchcraft in its true sense. I know he does go to the school of 'witchcraft and wizardry' but never do the 'good people' use magic thats not their own, isnt evil and witchcraft sourcing the power from other places, like a higher power, demons,..etc. If you read carefully, they NEVER do that. The power is always from within them, and thats not evil. So no, the books are not evil, quite the opposite.
Case dismissed ...LOL

Harry Potter is as much about witchcraft as Baywatch is about lifegaurding.
The Harry Potter books and movies teach important Christian values like how love will conquer hate and evil, sacrificing one's life fore the sake of another, the evil of presumption of character, the dignity of every creature, etc.
There are MANY good moral CHRISTIAN lessons to be learned from these books. J.K. Rowling has done a great service to Christianity.

I don't really mind harry Potter.
I've read all the books, and I have all the movies.
To me, it's just another setting for a teenage adventure story. Although, the more recent books are getting a little darker.
I wouldn't want my son playing around with wands and brooms, but I really don't object to the Harry Potter series. I don't object to the DaVinci code either. It's all fiction, and I don't believe any of it was created to advance any hidden 'dark' agenda.

I don't think that he or the books are evil. The books are very entertaining, and give more to the imagination.

It's just a story, no more evil than the story of Dumbo, or Pippi Longstocking!
And by the way, a very fun story!

Its a book. Entertainment. By the Christian perspective, anything mentioning any magic in any way is evil. Its utterly stupid to think that.
