Well, bird flu has not killed millions of people, to the poster who called you a retard, how ironic. The thing is with bird flu, it is being passed from birds to humans, and it is causing them serious harm. What everyone is worried about though, is the fact that it could mutate to a form where it is passed from human to human, which would be devastating. The last time that happened was in 1918, and it killed millions of people. This time the effects would be pretty impossible to comprehend, given that we have airplanes and the such now. Hope this helps!

You don’t have to come into contact with millions of chickens – just one infected chicken. Or one infected egg if it’s not cooked thoroughly. Or one chicken meal if it’s undercooked. Or one pile of chicken poop if it’s infected and you track some on your shoe into your home. Or a person who is infected.

The first human death was in 1997, and right now over 80% of people who contract the disease die.

Unfortunately the virus continues to mutate and scientists say that it’s likely it will gain the ability to pass easily from one person to another. That’s when pandemic will begin and we will see large numbers of patients.
