Well first of all your doctor should gradually step you down off of it. You don't just stop cold turkey

You shouldn't decrease by more than 0.5mg every 3 days. I stopped taking it and had no withdrawal symptoms at all, but I only took 1-2mg a day for about 8 months

You CANNOT just stop taking it. If you want to eventually stop Xanax, your doctor needs to titrate down your dose (lessen it) gradually. If you stop suddenly without medical help, you will probably have seizures. Life threatening seizures.

There is no way you can stop xanax cold turkey, you have to be under a drs care or you will die.My god, you have been on them almost 4yrs. Don't stop on your own. With a drs help it should'nt be to bad.

It can cause seizures. I take exactly the dose you do and I asked my doctor to wean me off them. She started prescribing lower mg./dosages
