I have an 8 month old boy cat..we were letting him outside but he seems to be getting into too many fights and such..I can't afford to take him to the vet on a weekly basis..we took him to get fixed but he had a infection from one of his fights so we couldnt.. But we are keeping inside so he wont get hurt. I am going to take him to the vet next week again to have him fixed but until then the odor is terrible...i know he is mad so could he be sprayin in his litter pan or is it just strong urine from the infection..any advice on the urine problem or help getting him to be happy inside would help!

First off, his urine may be strong because he is not drinking enough water. Have fresh water in different locations around the house and even offer to let him drink from a tap.

The urine smell should also get better once he is fixed.

To get a cat happy to be inside you must be firm. Do not let him outside at all any more, no matter how much they cry. They will get used to it in a few weeks. Make sure you play lots to get out their energy.

He should be OK after he gets neutered' Also make sure that he has a couple of dishes with clean water in them at all times, so he is drinking enough water. He'll get used to living inside, get him a few toys and give him lots of love and attention.

His urine will smell bad until he is fixed. That's the only way yo fix the problem. It will also help him to stop fighting so much.

His urine will continue to have an awful smell until he gets fixed. There's nothing you can do until then that will help.

For now, I would put a lot of baking soda in his liter box to dilute the odor.

He could have a urinary tract infection. Either way, strong oder usually means infection.
