A dog can eat bread but it does not give it the nutrition it needs. You need to go out and get some puppy chow. If you give your puppy some people food, like meat, it will probably be fine but it will probably get diarrhea.

Why is that pup away from it's mother? If the pup cannot be returned to the mother you need to go to the pet food store and get milk replacer for pups. DO NOT feed the pup cows milk. It would give the pup diarrhea. Take the pup to a vet and get some tips on how to successfully care for the pup. Get some cans of a premium quality food also. Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. I too just bought a puppy! My vet said that you should feed it 3 times a day, just like you should eat. Make sure it is puppy food, others are too harsh for the puppy's system! Keep them on puppy food for at least a year! And let the puppy eat as much as he wants for 15 minutes, after 15 mins pick up food until next feeding! Good luck! Make sure you take the puppy outside like 20 mins afters feeding to go potty, also as soon as he wakes up take him out right away this will help with potty training. Our puppy is nine weeks old and asks to go outside already!

No you cannot feed her scraps of bread! A 4 week old puppy should be nursing with her mother! Why is she not?
If you have a puppy in this situation, you need to get proper milk from a vet's office. Take the puppy to the vet now, and get shown how to properly look after it.
Once she is weaned put her on a high quality puppy chow, such as Royal Canin.

If you have a puppy, you need to go to the store and get her puppy food. No, you do not feed puppies scraps of bread. You would feed her puppy food, and if she's not yet able to eat it, soak it in puppy formula (that's puppy milk replacement you can get at the grocery). If that fails, you need to get a puppy bottle and feed her the milk replacment with a bottle. Puppies 4 weeks old shouldn't even be taken from their mother's yet.

You should not have taken this pup from its mother....it still needs her milk, and is not even ready for the "real world" yet. Take this pup back to the sicko breeder you got her from....you know, the one who let you take her to begin with.
If not, you need to feed her mush....that is, get a puppy milk replacer (powder form, at the pet store) and mix it with water and crushed up puppy food. Make sure it is EXTREMELY soft and not too thick. Then you must hand feed this poor pup. You must also bottle feed it with the milk replacer, in about 3 times a day. Go to your vet for more help.,

4 weeks old?! i hope there is a VERY good reason this puppy is not with it's mother and litter mates! you will need to go to the pet store or contact your vet. a puppy this young will probably need to be on a puppy formula for a while. scraps of bread are NOT an ok diet for a puppy this young. she needs puppy formula and food made for dogs, not people.

4 weeks is really young to be away from its mother. It is going to need milk mixed with kibble. Try pedigree puppy brands - that's what I used when my dog was a puppy. Call your breeder, if you have one, and see what they used before you got the pup.

If you go to pet smart and look in the dog food section you will see dog food that says "New born" or "puppy's". If you think it is good enough for your sweet bundle of joy buy that and some toys that will be fun for him and SOFT dog treats not hard.He or she is just a puppy remember.
