Tattoo's are a lot of fun- it's a great way to express yourself, show off your inner colors, or whatever you might want to call it. :-)
I got my first tattoo a few years back, a single pair of wolf pawprints on my inner left wrist- I've been dying for more ever since I had them done!

It's a popular thing right now, having tattoos; it's seen as very sexy, trendy, somewhat "rock star"-ish, so that may drive some people to get them.
Then you have people who, like myself, have a thing for pain. Tattoo's feel incredible to some masochists.
The after-effects of them might be somewhat intoxicating as well, what with the massive rush of endorphins. :-) It's a natural high.

My tattoos (all 24 of them) are an outward expression of my inner personality. I think body art is beautiful. Each one has special meaning to me. I have been asked if I have a "cutting" problem, or if I'm being rebelious, these kind of questions are from small minded people. And I dont agree that its the process not the tattoos that are addictive, that is ridiculous. I am who I am, my tattoos are an outward clarification of my inner beauty.

Because when you get the tattoo done, your body releases a lot of hormones. It's not the tattoo that's addictive, it's the process.

In my opinion I think tattoos are addictive not only for the desire to cover ones body w/ beautiful artwork, but I also I think it's the ritual and the pain that leads you into an altered state that brings you back to the buzzing sound of the beautiful torture. He-he, and I also think an occasional adrenaline rush is good for you.

You crave the endorphin rush you get from the constant injury to your skin. It's not the tattoo, it's the process of doing it. It causes an endorphin release, which is similar to "Runners high"... that can be very addictive.

Wow Jeans.....I been kinda wrestling with that one myself (see my blog)....you are right though I do think they are addictive...and I think the reasons differ from person to person.... I've got to say that I'm just starting to realize that this is a brotherhood (and sisterhood) .....I got my tattoo for myself and a family kinda came along with it. (sorta like motorcycles)
