Hi,
I've received an invoice from an internet company for £99.69. I never signed up for their services, but someone else must've using my information. I went to the police, but they said no crime had been committed. I explained as this to the company, and they stated that as I agreed to the terms and conditions when I signed up I'm bound by them!
Anyone have any ideas what to do????

They have some of information correct but not all of it, which makes me think it's not a scam, but someone got hold of my details somehow. I'll check with trading standards as soon as poss tho!

Don't pay it. If it's being charged to your credit card, ring your credit card company with the transaction details and tell them the bill is in dispute, and they'll freeze or reverse the payment for you.
Ask the internet company to send you all details, give copies to the police and tell them there IS a case of fraud or identity theft, and insist they follow it up. Get on to them regularly to see what progress they're making... pester them until they do something.
Good luck, I hope that's the only unexplained invoice you get.

It must be a scam. Contact your local trading standards officer with all the information you have. Keep and report all correspondence. If someone has used your details to set up this service, then the crime of fraud has indeed been committed. If it is on your credit card or bank card, contact your bank\card supplier, you may well be insured against this type of fraud. Good luck.xx

Send them a letter formally refuting the invoice, then go to your local Citizens advice and ask them what to do.
In your letter, I would ask the company to provide proof of your purchase also, it is highly unlikely they will be able to, as you said, you have never used the service.

YES THE COMPANY IS RIGHT, YOU ARE BOUND TO THE AGREEMENT YOU MADE. Now you have to have the company prove that you made an agreement. You said you did not, and the company has to prove that you did.
Until they can prove that you made an agreement, the bill is not binding.
