If you still have a sore throat that is not getting better after two weeks, you should return to your doctor to get it checked. Possibilities include strep (once in a while, the tests don't get a good sample and so are falsely negative--this is rare), mono (caused by the Epstein-Barr virus--you can get a quick blood test for this now that you've had symptoms for two weeks), gonorrhea (as mentioned above), and miscellaneous other viruses.

Unfortunately, with the exceptions of step and gonorrhea, there is little that can be done to treat these diseases as they are caused by viruses. On the plus side, by knowing if it is mono, you can be better prepared for how long the disease is likely to last.

Always see your doctor if you have concerns about your health!

Stop smoking. :o)
You probably have post-nasal drip. Buy a saline nose spray and use as directed. Also gargle with warm salt water 3-5 times a day.

Do you smoke? If so there is your answer right there.
You may have started out with a small sore throat and if you smoked while having it you irritated the throat. Also i would get your sinuses checked out.
