I heard a teaching on this and then went on to check the facts and study it for myself... think about this:
- In Genesis, the woman is called a 'helper' to the man. I was told that helper, the particular Hebrew word used for women, really means PROTECTOR. That God made women to be the protectors and allies of men.
- I looked it up... the particular Hebrew word used there is only used about 20-21 times in the Old Testament. Nearly all those times (at least 19) it is used to describe God. "The Lord is my helper, whom shall I fear?" etc.
- Could it be that this is why the devil first approached Eve in the Garden? To disarm the security?
-Could it be that like men are to be like Christ and therefore represent God in their relationships to their wives, that women are to do the same and represent God to their husbands in a protective way?
-Could it be that this is why women are so protective by nature?

i think you are very right,women always defend their husbands,and children //men are suppose to be Christ-like //i cant speak for all but if you will notice women are full of skeptism and seem very territorial of their homes and familys// he the(devil) played upon the fact that Eve wanted to be like God and was jealous of God// considering that he deluded her in the garden (suppose???)it had something to do with her luring adam

The devil first approached Eve to wholly seduce her.
Look up the Greek word in the new testament as Paul teaches in 2 Corinthians 11:3 see the meaning of the word "beguiled".
Satan tried to disrupt the seed line through which Christ was to be born. The Serpent(Satan) and Eve conceived Cain and
Eve and Adam conceived Abel. They were twins of different fathers.
Women in scripture have very significant roles and it is foretold they will prophecy in the last days in Joel, along with the men.

It very well could be. I never heard about the hebrew word. It makes sense though, because most of the Christian women I know run the house and make most of the decisions. Not in spite of their husbands, but because they love them. If they are in a good marriage, the woman will do things in her house to build it up.
Very interesting.... Im going to have to look that up when I get home from work.

however, it is never wrong for a woman to protect the man she loves and is linked to. the hebrew phrase "helpmeet" is translated to mean "suitable helper" - the concept is that she is a helper to fill in every part of life that man cannot.

I do not think that is quite the idea... but the man corrupted concept of the woman as virtual slave because of false interprtation of God's Word is a much worse error... indeed that concept is sin.... man and woman were given seperate roles... and each received seperate punisments for the original sins... but man and woman are to be partners in life... with man as the head of the family... but man is not to inslave the woman... If the man follows Ephesians 5 he will be obaying God and honoring his wife.

I am not sure what Bible you are reading but the verse is in Psalms 23. quote: The Lord is my shepard, I shall not want, he leadeth me beside the still waters, he restoreth my soul. etc.
We as women are protective by nature, Man is not considered a God, we are created equal. Everyone has a different concept on the meaning of verses. This is actually a real question.
