Anthony, I have to agree with you.I also am clingy, and not embarrassed to admit that I am more than twice your age.I think wanting to grow-up is not a new phenomenon amongst teens. However, in this day and age there are too many resources for kids to view, exposing them,BOMBARDING them with information and ideas beyond their comprehension. When I was growing-up, I could not wait to drive or to be able to get into clubs. I was not brought up in the age of high-tech EVERYTHING. I had a great family life, blessed with wonderful parents (STILL HERE)Thank God, and was in no hurry to have all the responsibilities of becoming the true definition of an adult. I was never a follower, which I think kids today have become due to peer pressure.I think when I got married my parents had to ask me to leave. I am joking about that, but my parents always said, "enjoy your youth, for you will grow-up soon enough" They were right, I tell the same thing to my son today.Your parents and home life sounds like a healthy environment, you are fortunate for that. Today's kids are also forced to grow up faster due to poor conditions at home, not necessarily economically. Enjoy your youth, stick to your principles, and hang onto your morals. You will be a well adjusted young man.

I'm 16 and I don't want to grow up probable because with all my health problems I'm not going to live very long, tuberculosis, lung deteration, heart problems and I get sick very easily I just wish I could find someone that I've been looking for a year and can't find him. Lucky me I vowed not to have sex till marriage and I'm sticking to it. It seems like kids are having sex younger and younger and it hurts me to see that because girls are loosing their virginity before they really even know what it is.

Tweens:
How often do you hear, "I'm too old for this"? And how often do you think, "But you're too young for that"?
Welcome to the Tweens: a generation of fashion-conscious, fad-loving, filled-with-attitude youth. You thought angst was a teenage phenomenon. Your 12-year-old is so moody, he begs for attention one minute, and then pretends you don't exist the next. You want to keep your 10-year-old in pigtails, but she tells you belly shirts are the bomb.
The media, cable television, hollywood, parents who don't discipline.

Well the thing is that kids are being exposed to adult concepts younger and younger. They have no choice but to grow up faster. Also there are many pressures from their friends to act older.

I have no idea. I am right there with you. I'm 22 too, and if these kids only knew what being a responsible adult was like, they'd want to go in reverse!

I wish I could be 7 again. No worries... I'm 20, and I like it but not like 7. Kids don't know what its like to be a kid, all the 'grown ups' have the 'fun'. Not really.

it is probably because of what is going on in hollywood, and the world. the world isn't the same as it used to be, which is sad. but they will regret trying to grow up too fast.
i'm 14, and i love being young, sure i try sometimes to act older, but i don't want to grow up too fast.
