I am coming there soon, is there a place to meet locals, prefer ones without criminal backgrounds... non gang members, murders, rapist. Someone who will not rob me, and try to beat me down, and throw me under a bridge... LOL, I hear the folks out there are super friendly... Does not matter if male or female, I am straight 30 yr. old female. Someone with a day off and want to show me around for a few hours, kinda like an instant cousin. Guys I am not intrested in any dates of any kind, so do not get the wrong Idea. If you want more of an idea who I am you can check out myspace. just look for patricia prescott, in sevierville, Tn.

There not just one place to meet nice people. LA is the second Largest city in the US and it's the second Safest Large city in the US right behind NYC. So there really no tips to give just be careful about who your friends are, Drive carefully, and just be a nice person and you should do just fine.
Santa Monica, South Long Beach (closer to the beach the nicer the area) West Hollywood, Silver Lake are all nice areas. Places to avoid Compton, Watts, South LA and Parts of East LA... But even they have nice areas in those parts of town with nice people.

Nice to meet you Patricia and an early welcome from a 32y/o gay guy that's lived all his life in the City of Los Angeles.

I've lived here for twenty years and come from the South and the people in LA are just as friendly and nice.

There are lots of fun places to hang out and meet people, but I recommend this park called Runyon Canyon, right above Hollywood Blvd and Mann's Chinese Theater. It's a great place to hike and see folks with their dogs just hanging out and enjoying the weather. The views are totally amazing. See the link below for more info and welcome to LA!

They might be able to help if there is an event going on - I've met a few people from this and they are very nice. I would suggest however having your guard up at all times - like any big city there are people out there that do not have your best interest at heart. I hope you have a good time (and I love Tennessee!!!)

What area are you going to?

There are no shortage of clubs, groups, classes, meetings, social events, church groups you could look into. Try chatting it up with your neighbors first. At least you'll know where they live. Ask questions, like what is their favorite whatever, where do they go to whatever. Rather than go up to everyone you meet and say, "howdy, I'm new in town. will you be my friend?" You get the idea.

I think LA folks are friendlier than most big cities, maybe less so than smaller cities, until get behind the wheel anyway.

We may be a little leery of strangers at first because there are no shortage of nut jobs here, just don't come on too strong at first.

Hey y'all--don't worry, your charming southern accent I am sure will do the trick..( Yes, we both know you don't have an accent. That will be our little secret, but these California type people will THINK that you do, some kind of ear problem with them ---LOL) Nice peeps are all over you won't have any trouble meeting nice people..Good Luck...

We have the most millionaires in any state in the U.S. We didn't get that way by being friendly. Just one advise, there are lots of friendly nice people out here, just don't trust anyone. People tend to put their guard down when they are having fun, and it's not the best state to be in, out here. Have fun and welcome to Southern California.

Good luck with that cause I think Southern California has rude people and I have lived there for 30 years and moved out of that area. Much better where my boyfriend and I live!
