there cannot be any:At death we are resting in the grave until judgement day, so ghosts cannot be true.
But wicked spirits abound in the earth.

(John 5:27-29) 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. 28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

(Acts 24:15) 15 and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

(Ecclesiastes 9:4-6) 4 For as respects whoever is joined to all the living there exists confidence, because a live dog is better off than a dead lion. 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

(Romans 6:21-23) 21 What, then, was the fruit that YOU used to have at that time? Things of which YOU are now ashamed. For the end of those things is death. 22 However, now, because YOU were set free from sin but became slaves to God, YOU are having YOUR fruit in the way of holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Revelation 12:7-12) 7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi´cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God! 11 And they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death. 12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”

(Job 1:7) 7 Then the Lord said to Satan: “Where do you come from?” At that Satan answered God and said: “From roving about in the earth.

Popular ideas about each human's "spirit" being some kind of immortal soul are simply not Scriptural. A better definition for "spirit" might be "that which is invisible to human sight and which gives evidence of force in motion". The biblical terms for "spirit" are actually used far more often in reference to the inanimate wind than in reference to the human 'spark of life'. There is no biblical basis upon which to suppose some sentient 'spirit' is independent of the physical body.

So what does the bible teach about "the soul"?

A "soul" is a life, with no implication regarding some immortal otherwordly entity. Each deceased life is in Jehovah God's remembrance (with the potential for future resurrection), but the dead do not exist anywhere but memories until and unless the life is resurrected.

(Ezekiel 18:4) The soul that is sinning - it itself will die.

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]

(Genesis 2:17) But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

(Genesis 17:14) And an uncircumcised male who will not get the flesh of his foreskin circumcised, even that soul must be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.”

(Judges 16:30) And Samson proceeded to say: “Let my soul die with the Philistines.” Then he bent himself with power, and the house went falling upon the axis lords and upon all the people that were in it, so that the dead that he put to death in his own death came to be more than those he had put to death during his lifetime.

(Job 33:22) And his soul draws near to the pit, And his life to those inflicting death.

(Psalm 78:50) He did not hold back their soul from death itself; And their life he handed over even to the pestilence.

(Isaiah 53:12) he poured out his soul to the very death

(Acts 3:23) Indeed, any soul that does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people.’

(Revelation 16:3) And the second one poured out his bowl into the sea. And it became blood as of a dead man, and every living soul died, yes, the things in the sea.

Ahh, Jehovah's Witness or Seventh Day Adventist?

Sounds like an 18th-19th century theological belief. Did you know that when these denominations were being created that the Fox sisters were starting seances and communication with the dead was an interest sweeping society. The rest in the Grave until Judgment Day theology was established at the same time as interest in Ghosts became all the rage. So in essence that theological stand was created to counter the current belief in Ghosts.

Just interesting thats all.

We don't rest in the grave. Our flesh bodies return to dust and we never need them again. When we die we return to Father. Ecclesiastes 12:7.

As for ghosts most likely they are unclean spirits intending to deceive those who don't know their bible.

At the time of the crucifixion there was an event of people coming out of the graves but this must have been simply a testimony of the fact that Christ had overcome death to those who could only understand it in those terms. Since we see that the spirit returns to Father when we die it must be concluded that the opening of the graves at the time of the crucifixion was a vision for the benefit of those who were there to understand what had happened.

What did Christ say to the repentant malefactor?

Christians are a very diverse group of people, so there's not a unique, Christian view of ghosts. Some Christians believe that "the dead know nothing". Others believe that God allows our loved ones to visit us after death to let us know that they're alright. Many Christans do not believe in hell in the traditional sense (i.e. fire and brimstone, etc.). As you suggested, biblical references to Hell are deemed to be allegorical and symbolic by many Christians and church leaders. Many modern Christians believe that if you are not saved, you simply blink out. After all, God is supposedly merciful. Would he really send anybody to Hell to be tortured forever??? On the other hand, the Bible also says that God in vengeful, so who knows. In fact, who really knows for sure if there even is a God. Faith is one thing, but knowledge is something different... Perhaps ghost are the 'souls of the damned', but I really don't believe this given that there have been some reports of good people coming back as ghosts. I think they are just people (both 'good' and 'bad') with unfinished business.

Is that why the thief on the cross is in paradise. Ghost aren't on earth but souls are in heaven now and await the resurrection of the body.

Good references except you have to deal with 2 Sam. 28 where Samuel appears to Saul after his death. God has a way of throwing a monkey wrench into our set beliefs.

Job 7: 9-10 "As the cloud disappears and vanishes away, So he who goes down to the grave does not come up. He shall never return to his house, nor shall his place know him anymore".

I have no clue what your question is but I can tell you that I don't belive in ghosts and that I belive that if god put someone on the earth and they died that if he put them there on earth for a reason that he would rise them from the dead
