Some unfortunately choose to. They should not. It is against Jewish law.

Jews are not allowed to eat pork, unless there is hunger in the land. This is the ONLY time it is permissible. But you should look for other food that may be available. If there is no food just a piece of bacon and there is true hunger then there is a prayer that you can say to make it "kosher."
Pork is not kosher because only animals that chew their cud and have cloven hooves are kosher (Lev. 11:3; Deut. 14:6). Thus beef, sheep, lamb, goats and deer may be eaten, while pork, camel and rabbits may not. These restrictions include the flesh, organs, milk and any by-products. Thus gelatin, which is usually made from horse hooves, is unkosher, as are most hard cheeses, which are processed using an enzyme from the stomach lining of non-kosher animals.
There are some liberal Jews who do not observe the Jewish dietary laws, including many Reform Jews. These Jews believe that they ethical commandments are mandatory but that the ritual commandments should be observed only by those who find them meaningful.
I hope that this answers your question

I am a Christian and I don't eat pork, for the same reason Jews and Muslims don't. Pigs are "unclean" animals. Notice that all the animals listed in Leviticus as "unclean" are all predators and scavengers, whose meat we shouldn't be eating anyway. For one thing, all the nutrients are secondhand and not as good. Secondly, scavengers like pigs and shellfish are nature's garbage-collectors. They eat garbage and rotting flesh. What they eat goes into their meat. So when you eat a pig, you're basically eating garbage. Their flesh contains trichina larva, carcinogens and other toxins. Even the FDA won't grade pork like it does beef. There's no such thing as "Grade A Pork". The FDA even says, "Eat it at your own risk." It is one of the most unhealthy meats you can eat, and someone who eats pork all their life runs the risk of having a heart attack by the time they're 50. God marked all the animals that were "safe" to eat with a cloven hoof and cud-chewing. They must have BOTH to be considered "clean". That is why the pig, although it has a cloven hoof, does not chew the cud, so it is not clean. Rabbits chew their cud, but do not have a cloven hoof, so they are also unclean. We should also not eat horses, because they do not have a cloven hoof and they do not chew the cud. Although horses eat the same food as cows do, they lack the same digestive system that cows and other "clean" animals have. Cows (and other "clean" animals) have 5 stomachs. Horses do not. They have a simple stomach, like a pig or a human. Because horses were designed to be a swift beast of burden that can run far and fast, 5 stomachs would have weighed the animal down. Animals with 5 stomachs need to be able to sit and rest in a field for many hours a day to allow their food to digest. The 5 stomachs are a purification process for the food they eat. Horses are much more mobile. This is why the horse was not chosen by God to be an "eating" animal, but rather a beast of burden.

God never said which animals not to eat.
Rather, he told the Jews which animals they COULD eat.
Pork was not on the list.
There is nothing wrong if a gentile eats pork.
However, a Jew should NEVER eat pork.
If a Jew does eat Pork, that means that they don't understand much about who God is, why He created the Universe and why it's a good idea to do as he says.
It's very sad. Those who don't understand it now will find out the truth, eventually.

My Jewish Step-father made ham for dinner last night. So far, he hasn't exploded, imploded, or been struck down. I'll let you know if anything changes.
Eating pork was a restriction of the times, added by rulers to ensure that their people did not die by meat that was at that time, unclean.
With modern technology, this no longer applies. It's common sense.

Of course they can!
It is a matter of CHOICE!
Many prefer to abstain out of RESPECT for their heritage!
Only the moon god worshipers are TERRIFIED to eat pork!
They are convinced it will make them stupid (ha ha), lazy, etc..
Too bad they can not look to the Jewish people and Christians who do eat pork for INSPIRATION and EXAMPLE!
