How much research about the translation did you do before you decided it was the one for you.

Just asking to satisfy my curiosity...not trying to start any debates here so let's not attack each other....

Arewether, I like that one too! I like to use the literal Greek diaglott with another translation and see how accurate the other translation is.

BIBLES

Amazing is:
KJV Bible 1611 published, at 303 years in 1914 after Christ is an excepted translation by law of man and God. I did no research to see what had been done with it at 1963.
It had been available for man to do whatever possible with it in the world for end times.

I began with four King James Bibles in 1963 when I was age 27, My 85 year old grandfather died and left them with me. By 1973, I was so familiar with this bible, that If I have another one, this is always the one easy for me to find anything I need in it.

I have studied several. They are all the same, the KJV Bible is very difficult, but not impossible. I am only interested in the word. Not interested in any worldly king James or any church, or church of England. The world was demanding, and this is the results and I thank God and Christ for it.

For a long time I was using the King James and the NIV but once I started working in Youth Ministry, I found that translations such as the Message Remix and Today's NIV are awesome.

Which one(s) do you prefer?

...My favorite is the New American Standard.
...As a new believer, I cut my teeth on the New American Standard Bible, since this was what most people in the church used. It is recommended as a good word-for-word translation. I still use it.
...I am also interested in and read the Amplified Bible. It expands the meanings of words and helps to explain passages. And since I love words, wordiness, and Scrabble, I really like it.
...Blessings to you.

I use them all, but the one I turn to for accuracy in translation is the literal translation. It literally translates word for word from Hebrew or Greek. Sometimes it makes it hard to make a coherent sentence, what with their sentence structure being different, but it helps with the individual words.

I like the NKJ. I spent years and years researching the translation. Actually, it was a gift and I didn't spend any time researching it. It has good footnotes by John Wesley and Adam Clarke.
