I have a bunch of swollen Lymph Nodes in my neck. I have been to the doctor and they said my blood count is normal and I don't have mono. However I do have a sinus infection. She gave me antibiotics for it and today is the last day they should be in my system. I was wondering if anyone knows if a bunch of lymph nodes would swell because of a sinus infection or only a couple should. My main concern is this cancer or a tumor or something serious that I should be concered with. I am just a very anxious paranoid person. Thanks for all your help.

It could well be the sinus infection that is making your lymph nodes swell. If the antibiotics are making the nodes go down, you should be in good shape. Stay in constant touch with your doctor until you find out what exactly is going on. There are many things that make lymph nodes swell besides cancer. If you want to research Lymphoma, here is a good site:

As a Hodgkin's lymphoma patient, I know all too well what paranoia is. Every time I get the slightest bump, I'm at my oncologists' office.

Finish up your treatments and see how you feel in a few days. If they are still swelled or get larger, go to a doctor immediately. Sometimes lymph nodes will remain swelled up for weeks after you have an infection, but don't be too passe about it. I waited for months to seek medical advice, thinking I would be fine. One day, I woke up barely able to move and the nodes in my neck were all swollen clear up, it looked like I had a goiter. I let my cancer go so long that it became very aggressive and I'm already in my second relapse in less than a year.

My guess, is they will do more blood work and maybe an X-ray to ensure you don't have swollen nodes in your chest. If that all looks clear, they might try to do a needle biopsy of one of your neck nodes, and have a pathologist look it over.

Don't worry yourself sick, but don't blow it off either.

Punk Rockin' ... When I was a kid (about 12), every lymph node in my body got swollen. They tested blood, urine, stool, and EVERYthing over several visits to the doctor.

I guess that swollen lymph glands are potentially serious and that's why they tested so vigorously because when all those tests came back negative, they did a biopsy and tried to determine the cause via that method. However, the biopsy turned up negative too. At about the same time, the swelling subsided, coincidentally, and that was the end of that. I'm now nearly 60 and they never did figure out what the cause was.

So, I have no answer other than to say that sometimes mysterious things happen for which there's no explanation. Oh, of COURSE something caused yours to swell ... It wasn't magic. But they apparently don't always find the cause.

Good luck with it.

A swollen lymph node that's been there for months does not mean it's cancerous. I've had a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck for the past 6 months and had numerous ultrasounds and a biopsy and it came back normal. Often times on these blogs people don't bother to come back on with updates to their situations. Always best to get a biopsy to ease the mind. Wish you the best!

To put your mind at ease i would make an appointment with your doctor. If it's just a sinus infection you can get some medicine for it. And if its somthing serious its best to get it treated right away.

Hey it is ok to be paranoid, but remember that the lymphatic system is for catching and filtering infection from your system. but if the swelling doesn't go down you should see a haematologist because it could be non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. it doesn't hurt to be safe rather that sorry.
