The Bible does not say "Only those who read the Bible shall be saved" or "Do this, this, and that, and you will go to heaven."

That's what those religious people that shove religion down your throat say.

Jesus did not come to start a religion!

He came to SAVE SOULS! The Bible says we all have sinned and fallen short of salvation. That's why we all need Jesus!

Agreed or not, are you understanding the concept of Christianity?

I refuse to tell you that Christianity is the only way to heaven!

I will say, however, that a RELATIONSHIP with the savior of mankind is!

And it's a gift!

You don't earn it!

I'm not here to convert you.

That's the last thought in my mind.

I just want to tell you what I know about Jesus. And according to many of your responses and questions, you're not understanding the concept of salvation.

I told you that right below that "I'm not here to convert you" statement, Jason.

Don't you get the point that most atheists have read and studied the bible at great length and couldn't really care less?

you're going to get laughed at. i'm glad that you're so zealous, but this is not the forum for that kind of thing - everyone here has had their chance to hear things like "relationship, not religion" but the key is that the worldly man cannot understand the things of the spirit.

people here want academic or textual answers to their challenges or curiosities about the Scriptures. while many of them may sound ignorant or self-absorbed, there are many of them who actually want to know why we believe what we believe. remember what peter tells us: be ready always to give an answer.

no matter how you dress it, everyone here will call a relationship with Christ "Christianity". after all, "Christian" only means "little Christ" - i don't know what's so bad about that.

EDIT: (for the person above me)
The God of the Bible never did change, His revelation of Himself to us has changed. God requires different things from mankind throughout different ages in history. That does not mean that His essence changes in the least. He required one thing of the Nation of Israel, but the fulfillment of that requirement came in Christ and was rejected by Israel. Romans 11 says that because of this rejection, the Lord gave a chance for the gentiles (non-Jews) to accept it.

Jesus lived and that is an accepted fact by all scholars; it is not debated whether He existed, it is debated whether or not he was divine.

Paul met Jesus in a supernatural experience on his way to damascus. We can agree to disagree on healings and resurrections, but not this?

anyway. hope that helps.

to the poster of this question: i told you.

EDIT 2: (to the person under me)
Faith is something you choose to have, not something you ask for. However, it is grace that saved us, but repentance and dedication is what is necessary for salvation. One must turn from their sins, allow the "old man" - the former self - to hang on the Cross with Christ, accept Christ and seek Him in everything. You may never receive a sign or hear an audible voice, but you will experience a changed life.

email me if you have more questions.

Perhaps YOU don't understand the point of the bible. First of all, the entire Old Testament is Jewish. If Jesus existed (and that's a BIG IF) and the New Testament is in any way correct, the God of the bible wouldn't have said, "I am God; I do not change" and then completely do away with the Torah. If you christians really wanted to understand the jewish Jesus, you'd actually have to understand Hebrew and Judaism.. to fulfil the law is a rabbinic way of saying to add a midrash (teaching) to it. The law was never done away with... Jesus never said that.
That's just one of the many problems with your faith today.
He didn't come to "save souls", as that isn't in jewish prophecy. There is no heaven/hell concept in Judaism. The entire concept you are discussing comes from someone who never even met Jesus... Paul.
I get the point alright.. the point is, you can't argue something to me that you haven't studied yourself.
When you have, come talk to me and we'll see what other point there is.

I completely understand the concept of Christianity and Jesus as a conduit for salvation.

I understand the concept. I just see no reason the human race needs salvation. Without a deity, there is no sin (as sin is defined as an offense to the gods), and without sin, there is no need for salvation.

Jesus said that He came to build HIS church. Belonging to HIS Church is not a religion, It's a way of life. It's the ONLY way to heaven. We are told in the Bible what we must do to be saved, but I can tell that you wouldn't listen. But the Devil is QUIET pleased that you don't believe any of this.

Salvation by faith. First of all thanks for sharing, I know it can be hard to open up.

I have a pretty tough follow up question for you though. What about those people who tried to build a RELATIONSHIP with the savior for years, but could never hear his voice. The bible is pretty clear about salvation being a gift and provided through faith in God. However, if one cannot ever hear God or understand his word, then they are lost. Faith is a gift from God, there are thousands, like myself who prayed for faith, read the bible and tried hard to believe, but there was nothing in return. No voice, no feeling, no signs, no faith as a gift. Does that mean that God chooses who to give the gift of salvation to selectively?

That has been my experience, I know yours is different, and that is great, but keep in mind that others have had another outcome. If God is real, he has the choice to help those people, but chooses not to.

In some ways you are so correct. Jesus did not come to start religion. He hates man made religion, and so do I He came to save, but over and over in the Bible, He tell us that if we dont obey , it leads to curse and that obedience leads to blessing, and He tells us how to live and think, and says we must do that.If we dont know what the Bible says, how can we obey God? Christianity is the only way to salvation as Jesus is the only way. God tells usthat in scrpture. Man made religion doesnt make that up. We Christians do only what God of the Bible says, and it settles it for us. If you dont believe in following Jesus, then youarent Christian, and God tells us there is no other way but thru Jesus. True Christians shouldnt try toshove religion down your throat. Even God hates religion and God doesnt force anyone to believe in Him or to obey Him, But He tells usclearlyhe consequences if we dont. You are right, we all have sinned and falen short of the Glory of God. Thats why we need a saving Jesus. I will say Jesus is the only way to heaven, as that is what God says. Religion doesnt cut it, the only way to God and salvation is thru having a relationship with the saviour, Jesus Christ, there is no other way, and to obey because we love Him, not trying to get to heaven on our own good merits. NO. None are good enuff for God. Yes, I do understand the concept of Christianty. God loves us too much to leave us in the sick conditio we are in, and tells us a way out, and will even rid the world of all sin when Jesus comes again. He has to. If He let them live , they would ruin heaven for us with the same nonsense they do down here. They leave God no choice, so indirectly they choose hell for themselves. You are correct tho, it is not about man made religion. Its only about Gods word, His love letter to us. WE do need Jesus, not jsut knowing about Him. even the devil knows about him, and can quote scripture. Its about loving Him and loving Him enough to follow Him and obey Him, in all things, good and bad. Press on with Jesus. He is the only way. Good thought provoking question.

Nobody is trying to cram anything down your throat. As a Christian, it is our duty to tell you the good news. What you do with it is up to you, and I can see right now what your decision has been. No one can be saved without hearing the Gospel and the Gospel cometh from a preacher.
