Call your local animal shelter/SPCA they can pick it up and try to find the owners or adopt it out.
Go sit outside with the dog after you call them if it is friendly so it doesn't run away.

I would NOT call animal control. They do not have a lot of room, and euthanize healthy animals after only a few days if they can't find an ID on the animal, and don't have the room. I would either take the dog to a rescue group, or to a veterinarian. They can scan the dog to see if it has a microchip. You should confine the dog until you can get him there so he doesn't get hit by a car. If you found my dog, that is what i would want you to do. If you find a rescue that will take him, i would also put up flyers around where you found him. That will give the owners a better chance of finding him. Good luck!

A vet won't take the dog in. Call your local Animal Control office (usually associated with the police department), or a local shelter/ rescue and file a "found dog" report. Let the person you talk to know that you are unable to keep the dog yourself and want it picked up as soon as possible. If the dog's owner has filed a lost dog report with the authorities, they'll match that lost dog report with your found dog report and get the dog back to its owners.

Try calling the local animal shelter to see if anyone has reported a missing dog. if not and your allowed to keep it then get a collar feed it and get your other dogs used to it before letting him into the house.

Call your local humane society, I know the ones around here have a pickup service. They can also check to see if he is microchipped, to find his owner.

Well, first you should look for a no-kill animal shelter. Where exactly are you? Different states have different laws. I would put out some food and water for it so it doesn't get dehydrated or hungry and call a humane society shelter and talk to them. But what state do you live in?

call a pet shop that does adoptions (petco, petsmart) and get the contact number for the person that does adoptions through their store. the adoptions are usually done by people with private shelters and they harbor "rescue" dogs.

Take it to a shelter.. they will find a nice home for it, and you won't have to pay for that vet visit.
